Drew Estate Undercrown CP Sendout Review Thread

I smoked the robusto from the free Undercrown sampler very generously sent out by Jonathan Drew and the Drew Estate folks this evening while walking the dogs. This was a beautiful cigar with a very dark maduro wrapper and a solid, very heavily packed filler. The prelight aroma was absolutely...

    What's in your pipe today?

I've been enjoying the burley/perique lately, mostly with C&D's Big 'n' Burley and Old Joe Krantz (thanks Freebern!). Other than some latakia heavy blends for a change of pace it's really been mostly burley for the last month or so. It just seems really straightforward and enjoyable.

Drew Estate Undercrown CP Sendout Review Thread

Well I just received the package with a robusto, double corona and visor today, so I'll be lighting up within the next few days to give one of these a try. I have to say that they look outstanding, a very nice, solid cigar with a beautiful dark wrapper. If they smoke half as good as they look...

    Feral hog hunting in TX

The lawn chair is no problem, but going in to pick one out is a no-no. Too many contamination and disease issues. We can't have you dirty Wisconsinites going and making a few thousand hogs sick now can we?

First shotgun for 9 year old

I'd have to agree on a 20 ga. but I like a break-action for a first gun. Easy to load and unload, easy to make safe, absorbs more recoil due to more weight. A .410 is too difficult to hit with and would only be discouraging.

    Giving Back & Enjoying

What a great gesture, thanks very much! I've only tried a few Drew Estate cigars as they aren't heavily stocked around here. Looking forward to it.

    Feral hog hunting in TX

You should come to Iowa, Jason. I have friends that can hook you up with hogs anywhere from 25-300 lbs. within 5 miles of my house. We could do it as a "driven" hunt - you guys stand outside the barn with your guns and we'll drive the hogs to you. They're feral as soon as they're loose, right...

    What's in your pipe today?

Just for the heck of it I bought a pouch of Half & Half at the supermarket the other day and have smoked a few bowls of it. It's decent, bit pretty good when it got hot, and I probably won't smoke it very often or even buy it again, but the room note is exactly what I remember the old duffers...

    What's in your pipe today?

C&D Star of the East - strong latakia blend, pretty good, bit a little. C&D Poplar Camp - nicely fragrant, mild. SG FVF - very good, flavorful, sweet, needed drying a bit.

Well I obviously haven't had a chance to try everything yet, but I did smoke one flake of Orlik Golden Sliced and it was pretty nice, very mild but a little sweet with a very pleasant aroma for a nonaromatic. I just need some practice with flakes, I guess, because I had a little trouble packing...

You said you'd send me a few samples to try, not nearly a dozen, plus a couple jars, plus half a tin, plus a brand new 1.5 oz. pouch! You'll get yours, mark my words, you'll get yours.

    What's in your pipe today?

I tried a couple bowls of C&D Habana Daydream from a sampler yesterday, and it was excellent, maybe my favorite pipe tobacco I've tried so far. Very nice flavor, lots of nuances, and smoked cool. The only problem might be that the room note was very strong, our so I was told. :-)

What beer did you drink today?

For the Super Bowl, I started off with a couple of Guinness at home, then had one Guinness and a bunch of Boulevard Irish Ale at the bar, then had a couple bottles of Sam Adams at the last bar. Final tally: at least one too many.

    What's in your pipe today?

Tried some Engine 99 from Cornell & Diehl yesterday and it was very good. Have some Pirate Kake prepared for tomorrow.

What beer did you drink today?

Been drinking a lot of Guinness draught cans lately - the supermarket had them on sale for $5.00 per 8 pack so I loaded up.

    Does any body see it?

That is a very cool trick.

Time to buy that Blue Cheese for the Super Bowl!

Thanks for the top, definitely going to have to make this for the game. Besides, I need to do something with that half pound of Maytag blue I have lying around... :whistling:

How long can you let your tobacco sit?

If it doesn't work out for me the next time, this is where I'll end up as well. It's not nearly as bad as leaving half a $10+ cigar, after all.
