Ocean City, NJ off the boardwalk there is a small shack that makes wicked soft shell crab sandwiches. Have to ask the mrs, what the name is, I know how to get there.

That's really far from me... About 2.5hrs from my job and 3.2hrs from home. I'm not driving that far for a sandwich lol. Thanks anyways!

LOL, I've driven further for some good grub!

But you probably already knew what to expect. What if I drive there and these crabs actually taste like crap lol... I wouldn't mind driving 2.5hrs to Katz's to get a pastrami sandwich because I already know how good they are.

So true one man's caviar is another's stinky fish eggs! That's why I like Katz's it is worth going to!

Hard to believe, but they used to give them away at bars on the Maryland coast. Not anymore.

My bday is on the 4th, but for the past six years the party is always the Thursday night before at The Rieger here in KC. The menu is huge, lots of local chefs provide dishes every year for the annual "White Trash Picnic"...an homage to my youth.

This is just one dish out of about ten...."Corn Dog Funnel Cakes".

Ethnic food is a wonderful thing. Come to Northern New England if you want to find out what American food can be like. Boiled meat, over-cooked vegetables, dried out turkey and well done beef. Yummy.

Doc
McDonald's?

LOL, that sounds more like the English countryside. Where if the beef isn't boiled to remove all taste of beef it isn't done! But there is nothing like a newspaper full of fish and chips!

A couple weeks ago I stopped in Cincinnati to see my uncle. He mentioned a local grocery store, Jungle Jim's, that had an assortment of unusual meats. One of the things I purchased was wild boar medallions, and I cooked it for dinner last night:

full

Pan fried wild boar medallions with blackberry balsamic sauce, served with wilted spinach, sautéed portobello mushrooms, and (cheater) portobello mushroom ravioli. Paired with Molon Lave (a local winery) Cabernet Franc.

I had been looking for a medium for blackberry balsamic since I saw the berries in the farmers market. My Flavor Bible didn't really recommend blackberry with pork and it also didn't have a listing for boar, but I had a feeling they would pair nicely even though I couldn't find a recipe for this combination. I decided to wing it and compose the dish anyhow, and it turned out great. It's the first time I've made boar or blackberry balsamic, but it won't be the last for either.
