    The first few generations of my family in this country---we're talking back in the early 1600s---had a merchant ship and trade route between the West Indies and New London, Connecticut supplying rum and whiskey to the Colonies.

    I seem to remember hearing something about all of this when I was screeched-in my first time visiting Newfoundland. Unsurprisingly, I don't remember much of that evening...
