I goofed when I created the original condition, and have learned from my experience. My humidor is in my basement in a spot that rarely gets over 67 degrees. I've kept my humidity pretty constant between 64-69. I got sloppy during a very cold spell (negative 10 degrees) which dumped the...
Due to an over-adjustment in humidity (over watered beads) I found that a couple of my cigars had a light amount of surface mold on the head of the cigars (nothing through the foot). I noticed this maybe a month ago. I'm pretty sure it was mold instead of plume, but it wiped right off and...
When it comes to luxury spirits, prices don't increase linearly. The 23 YO is definitely more rare (fewer bottles produced) than the 20 YO and only certain barrels even have the opportunity to make the journey to 23 years. Additionally, evaporation can take anywhere to 50-60% of the original...
Bacardi loses more rum to evaporation than Don Q makes.
Which Don Q do you have? They make an Grand Anejo which is a tremendous sipping rum. The regular rum is better than bacardi, but that is faint praise.
Next time you drink the Blue, try it first neat - then add a few drops of room temp. spring water. Ice really takes away a lot from a glass of top shelf scotch. Think about how 'smooth' or tasteless vodka is ice cold vs. room temperature.
I cannot even imagine drinking Blue with ice (let...
The tobacco taxes stink here in Minnesota, but if we all buy from the nets - we are ensuring that places where we can smoke and congregate go out of business.
I can think of at least 4 great places in the Twin Cities that are worth the trip. Sure they are more expensive than the net, but I...
I think they are the anti-Tatuaje because Tatuaje is all about the smoke over the packaging. Tatuaje is also much more difficult to come by (you won't be seeing a Tat on cbid) and the cigar is a bit more robust than most of the Gurkha line.
Frankly, Gurkha's packaging makes me suspicious of...
CA just gave the Torpedo a 95 and the rest got low 90s. Worse cigars have stayed on the market with lower scores.
BTW,
I really like the cigar and if true, need to buy a box asap.
Gurkhas are generally well constructed cigars, but they definitely are marketed to people on packaging over product. From the box to the stick, you can see its a lot of form over function. I don't think they are bad sticks - and certainly they are well worth the prices that CBid charges. But...
I purchased some cigars from a LCDH in Shanghai. I'm pretty confident of their authenticity, but think that the store has had a spotty record of maintaining constant humidity.
I'm wondering what the pitfalls of a cigar that had at times been over-humidified are? If there is no mold growth -...
