Maduro is sweet (cooked maduro that is versus just the darker shade of a leaf), and SG is supposed to be more spicy.

I love the Monte Sublimes. Great sticks and different enough from the standard Monte profile. Worth $25...that's your call. I didn't pay that for mine. But then again, I don't know how many are left.

I like the Olivia O's too. They have spice, but to me are not real spicy. That's just my thinking. And I meant that you want spice just not a pepper bomb. The LGC cubano are earthy, but have a good flavour. Not too much spice, but I love them, especially with age. Just like the different flavor...

There are a lot of similarities in some sizes, but differences in others. For example, a HDM Double Corona is like smoking air. Epi's are different than the de Duex and de Roi. Def not...... some of the RyJ sizes actually taste good. ;) hehe Not a huge Cedro Deluxe fan, but I like stong stuff...

dlomonosov, it sounds like you like a medium body cigar, earthy to woody, with not too much spice. If so I agree with the HDM Epicure #1 and would add the HDM Epicure #2 and H. Upmann Magnam 46. Also you would enjoy the Monte Edmundo, La Gloria Cubana MdO #1,#2,and #3, and also Quai d'Orsay...

Kid, these are both fake, yes. And I did not see anyone mention that the lettering of Habana Cuba on the Cohiba is totally off. Way to high even for a printing error. And I agree that the cap on the partagas is more of a concern than the capon the maduro. This is true, but for reference please...

The wrappers look rough for Cohibas in the close up pics, that's my biggest concern. But in your pic of the open box, the wrappers seem pretty normal. Also, I see what you mean by then seeming just... a little off. Now I am not making a claim based on the band, but I have to agree with KingAntz...

Gotta agree with the Monte C and RyJ Hermosos #1. My fav is probably the Monte Sublime. These Monte Grand Edmunos have some really interesting potential though. Good flavor now for an EL.

Yea OP, I have seen this too. Cigars from 00 and the first part of 01 are notorious for being bad. Part of 99 too. That was the time that they were maxing out cigar production and experimenting with that aweful Habanos 2000 leaf. They have since cut production, improved blends, got rid of that...

That is not exactly how that works. In fact, the rollers get their allotment of tobacco each morning from the caged tobacco room, and they roll what they are told to roll. Hell, sometimes the rollers don't even know the marca, they only know the "factory size" they are rolling with the tobacco...

Don't forget that the Monte #4 are rolled by trainee rollers and new rollers. I think the blend in general in uneventful, and as mentioned the consistancy of the tobacco and constuction is so hit and miss, that I stopped purchasing them long ago. Heck, I remember a provential factory I was in...
