Long story short, my brother is trying to come up with a porter recipe that would make you think of pipe tobacco aromas. He's got some ideas on the direction he wants to go. But with a few pipe smokers and a few homebrewers here on the board, I thought maybe we've got a couple that do both. And maybe they'd have an idea he hadn't thought of. Any ideas?

Only thing that comes to mind is that Genuine Perique used in the right amount to a blend can have a dried fruit sort of flavor. Maybe more in the raisin arena.
I have no insight into brewing, but wonder if anyone ever "smoked" the hops in a brew?

Yeah, I remember that thread. We're doing it without actually adding tobacco to the brew.

this might be out of the box, but could you "smoke" some pale malt with some pipe tobacco?
