PLPC General question

insight

Making friends everywhere!
So it seems there has just been a restocking of PLPCs (for those fortunate enough to live outside the US.) A friend of mine (in Canada) is pondering picking up a CAB but hasn't tried one before and is hesitant to pull the trigger. I have heard lots of good things about these so I am leaning towards encouraging him to make a purchase in the dark but I was hoping some folks might have some thoughts on the flavor profile and what it might be comparable to. What makes these stand out against say, a party short or RASCC? Any non-ISOMs that are similar in taste/body?

Well, in terms of size, they are bigger than a party short, but smaller than a RASS (ring wise). Their flavor is very good, and in some ways very similar to the RASS.

I have to say I really enjoy the size of the PLPC; many nights, a mareva sized smoke is just the right answer.

I think they are dandys; great out of the box, better with some time on them.

My $00.02 - B.B.S.

The PLPC is one of the best petit corona cigars out there as far as ISOM is concerned......rather sweet rich and aromatic.......Full of complex flavor.....Believe me you wont be selling any of these once you've tried one...This is far from the part shorts which are spicy with deep mocha... full bodied as well....Both are top notch though.....If you like sweetness like the punch punch(isom) profile you will love the PLPC

ROTT, I think they were very good. I prefer the BPC. The PLPC are sweeter and milder in comparison. It'll be interesting to see how they compare with some age on them.

Talk about coincidence!

I just nubbed one 10 minutes ago and I remarked to my wife what a
great cigar this is, particulary because it's young.

Get them, grab them love them.

yeah, i have some of the apr. 06 it has a wide range of light to medium sweet flavors. It's good, but i'm sure with time the flavors will round out and get better. For under $6 a definite go to cigar. i smoked mine in sept. will try again in December

Hello Insight,
I tried this particular cigar on the recommendation of many a BOTL. Its light bodied, but has a distinct creamy, almost carmel-meets-coffee taste to it. Its a quicker smoke, but a delicious one none the less. Believe me, once you smoke this you'll wish you had more!

I grabbed ($275) a cabinet of 50 from 2006 vintage (to my dismay, wanted some age on them) These had once been so hard to come by but recently are readily available. I have let them sit at about 62% allowing them to lose some humidity and firm up a little. This is one fine cigar, very well made, dark wrappers that are very good looking and most important - real nice flavor profile and good draw. Hints of carmel and toffee, truly a unique flavor that will pair well with a lot of different drinks from Sam Adams Octoberfest (like last night) to Pinot Noir to coffee. As they age they are turning into something special, deeper and richer - not strong- just rich and flavorful. A definate one to try out!

Those the ABR06's, Brian?

A little late on this answer Wilkey but yes, you are spot on.
Damn mind reader huh! ??? ;)

X2 here. I just smoked one of these that I was gifted in a Secret Santa pass last year. Nothing to say but Freaking Awesome. Nutty, creamy, and ohhhhhhh soooo good. If they were legal here, they are the only sticks I would smoke!! (figuratively)

I have smoked exactly one but it made me realize how good a petite corona could be!

I don't like these cigars at all. There are far better Cuban marevas out there. To be specific, pretty much all of 'em. ;)
