New Cigar Box Clocks Up For Grabs

It simple; keep the CigarPass trading room free of "for profit" enterprises.

Wade has set up shop here - I think most guys thought it was a hobby - it's not, granted it may not be his first source of income.

As others have pointed out, Hillbilly Steaks needs to rethink posting for jerky sales in the trading room - it's a business, even if it is not his main source of income.

MrJerry and N2adventures already keep their sales posts in the Hot Cigar Deals / Vendor Section.

Can somebody please pick two numbers in between 1 and 16? You have no idea what I'm talking about which is my way of keeping this fair.

Thank You.

8 and 6 !!

Unlike NullSmurf, at least you admit that we have no idea what you're talking about in your post.

Thank you. You have just picked Moki and Smokelaw1 to receive a door prize from my recently finished pass. I was just making an attempt at picking two names from the original list of participants (in this case #8 and #6 as seen on the first post), and trying to be sure I was fair and impartial about it.

Here is where I mentioned my intention.

Thanks!

That whole pass was a lot of fun to watch.

Josh...I'll be back in CT by this Monday! :whistling:

<nice thread jack, Gonz!)

Very nice Andy.

A good thread jack if you ask me, maybe we can put it to bed now and
find some other fun.

I am relatively new ot this forum but it seems like all anyone does is pick on other posters. It looks to me from reading on the site that Wade is one of the most active members. It seems that when he posted a few clocks many people asked for the them and asked for specific clocks. I just think it is silly for someone to call him out on selling/trading a product that is so well liked in the community.

all anyone does
huh? Ya know, I have no patience for guys like you who make absolutely ridiculous statements like you did with this post. "All anyone does" is an extreme statement which in the case of CigarPass is completely untrue.

Do a little exercise for yourself, go back in ANY period of time, pick any thread and look at ten or twenty posts in a row and see if this is "ALL" you see.

Here's another classic:

Wade is one of the most active members."

He nick, this site has been here for almost seven years. Once again, I will ask you to do a little exercise, can you find any posts made by Volusinator in ANY thread before August of 2006?

I just think it is silly for someone to call him out on selling/trading a product that is so well liked in the community.
He's not being "called out" for selling and trading a product as you put it. The issue here is that posts regarding his little business enterprise should be in the vendor's section and so far, I don't see ANYONE disagreeing with that one.

As far as his product being "so well liked in the community" the community here is over 4000 members and just because you an a handful of others "like" his product doesn't mean the other 3995 do.

Now, I'm not going to tell you to "keep quiet noob" because you have to live with the statements you make here. The problem is that if you continue to make ridiculous statements like this, you will continue to do yourself more harm than good.

It's a business. He does make his living doing this.
Actually I don't. It's a hobby for me, my wood shop is in my garage. The Mrs. and I have 5 kids, I couldn't support them selling cigar box clocks. We own the largest mobile Disk Jockey service in WI with 29 systems and over 45 employees right now. Our business can be seen at www.FortuneTalent.com Skip the intro, it takes forever to load.

Wade, can you close out your current clock threads and mark them as "ALL DONE"? You can then re-open them, if you wish, in the correct forum. As has been stated by others, they are nice products and IMHO are 100% appropriate for this site.

Thanks, bro.

Okay, but isn't Design the Time a business? Your website sure makes it look like a business to me.

Lots of people have main jobs with a side "business" which is what it certainlly looks like you have here. My ex-wife is a manager at a vineyard in Connecticut AND she like to cook, she always has and always will. So she started a little side BUSINESS to make a little extra money. Just as in your case, she could not support herself on that side business alone but that doesn't change the fact that it's a "business" as opposed to a hobby. She's got hobbies too like collecting wine, her doll collection and her cats.

To Sarge's original point, yes, it looks like Wade is profiting from the clocks. I agree that in this forum, thats not cool. So what if Rod scooches this whole string into the vendor area? Will that satisfy your objections?

That would be best...But another question is still unanswered. Did Wade profit from free boxes sent to him by a person that did not full realize what was going on? To me that is a big credibility issue. If the person had knowledge of it...No foul.

How would you like it if you gifted me some cigars that you thought would be passed around to other people without profit...Then I turned around and sold them for profit?

All he has to do is answer the question truthfully. He has a responsibility to be honest in his dealings.

Credibility is on the line here...Reguardless of you seeing it or not.

No problem at all Steve, heading out for the oldest daughters birthday get together but I'll do it as soon as I get back. I guess I didn't know if I should do another post in the Vendor section or if Rod would move it, but I can certainly take care of it as you advised.

Thanks,
Wade

If you pull money out of a business to live on it is considerered making a living. I work extra jobs every week. With that and my regular job I make a living. That is just my opinion...I think it is a valid one.

It's my understanding that the person who sent them understood that I was going to make clocks out of them and trade/sell them. I'm not sure if he realized or thought about or cared if there was a profit made by them. I will PM him and ask him his thoughts, if he has an issue with it I'll certainly take those particular boxes off the table, if he has no issue with it then I'll leave them up for grabs after I move the post to the Vendor section. Fair enough?

Wade

Fair enough. I'm pretty sure it was Moki who sent Wade the ton of boxes, 50 pounds couldn't have just been cigars, so if it was him he could lets us know. And I'm betting that if it was Moki, he knew what Wade was planning on doing with them and approved of it. Moki strikes me as being more than a bit savy regarding business.

With the exception of the very last time I updated the original post, I traded every clock for cigars although I gave the option to purchase if someone would rather do that, their option. Actually, I mentioned I would prefer a trade, but if they wanted to purchase outright, that'd be fine too. It wasn't unitl the last update that I mentioned I'd rather sell this lot as I was getting ready to build my armoire and thought I could put those $'s toward the expenses of that project.

I can see your point about looking at this as an "extra job", but quite frankly, I've SOLD two of the clocks...I guess that's not a very good side job! :D As far as my website linked to my profile, I'd like anyone to try and find a cigar box clock on that site. These clocks have nothing to do with DesigningTheTime.com, they just came about as an idea because of empty cigar boxes lying around. They never have nor ever will find a way to my personal website.

Moki strikes me as being more than a bit savy regarding business.
No doubt, have you ever seen his stationary! WOW, bar none the coolest stationary I've ever seen!
