iPass Jazz Pass & Vine

Hate to butt in, but this is the coolest idea for a pass that I've seen in a long time! If there's another one, I hope to get in!

Check out the Blues version of this pass that we did last year which is now in the "completed passes" section.

So have we talked about what our favorite Jazz artists are yet? What does everyone look forward to sharing with the others? Are your favorites solo artists or Big Band or Contemporary or Kenny G?

As far as I'm concerned, I'm going to try to go through my collection and find things that I doubt anyone else will have. Or if they are more popular big band tunes, I'll find my recordings of them by groups that you wouldn't expect.

Who here is a Don Ellis fan? Anyone going to share anything by the Buddy Rich Big Band?

:cool:We have liftoff............Gonz - incoming DC# 0103 8555 7499 1399 5636

I have included 7 albums on the disc

In no order
1. Grover Washington Jr. - Winelight
2. Dave Koz - Lucky Man
3. Jeff Lorber - West Side Stories
4. David Sanborn - Best of
5. Waymon Tisdale - Decisions
6. Stanley Jordan - Best of
7. Al Di Meola - Elegant Gypsy

A fair mix from classoc to smooth jazz with a little fusion/acid jazz mixed in.

Hope everyone likes and thanks for having me first in this GREAT pass. I'm looking forward to the PIF/tunes already coming back around.

Regarding what music to include... that's tough to call because so many differnt kinds (swing, jazz rock, fusion, ragtime...) can also be considered jazz.
I've got some classic and "off the wall" stuff I'm gonna toss in.

Seven albums? How much music are we supposed to put in? I thought we were going to burn sampler CDs.

Wilkey

No worries Wilkey - I was tring to pick a few songs and just couldn't...........Jazz is just too important in life. I will pick out three songs for the Official CD.

1. Grover Washington Jr. - Winelight - song 1 - Winelight
2. Dave Koz - Lucky Man - song 9 - Lucky Man
3. Al Di Meola - Elegant Gypsy - song 4 - Race with Devil on Spanish Highway

Do you guys want me to create another compilation CD? I wasn't planning on doing one this time around since we're starting with a Vine.

Dicks! :p

But seriously, I was planning on selecting maybe 20 of the best tunes from my 100+ CDs. I thought that teasers across a broad range would accomplish the objective you stated and that is to turn people on to new sounds and to get them to go out and buy their CDs. That's my plan.

It's ok if folks want to provide more. I've got a stack of DVDs and I'm ready to rip!

 I agree. I joined this to listen to new stuff. If anyone puts Kenny G in this I might be forced to send them to my dentist who has it playing while he cleans my teeth. :(
