Particurlarly THIS one, the Incanto Rondo model.

Please post all comments, good, bad or indifferent.

Also, if you have a different machine, please feel free to post what you have and what you like or don't like about it.

I'm going to get a good one, and I want it to be the right one the first time.

Thanks all in advance for your posts!!!

Well, I know you got your heart set on one of these fabulous machines, but I'm Italian, know lots of other Italians and none of us would spend that kind of money. Be authentic, get a moka. 29.95

If the Moka is an aluminium stove-top unit, I have 2 of the 3 cup size. One here and one at my sister's for when I visit her. I also drink alot of Cappucino and nothing compares to properly "steamed" milk. Also, I love the idea of pushing a button, come back a minute later to nice hot fresh Expresso. No friggin' around grinding beans and tending the stove, no clean-up, etc.

I go through (on the average) a pound of beans a week, so it'll get used quite often.

We don't drink too much of that cappuchino either. Half expresso, half annisette. But your right, properly steamed milk is key.

Espresso Doc, espresso.

Expresso is something you use to get out of the supermarket quickly.

Newfie, I use the Batista, buy starbucks. I have been making my own for 4 years and have no issue with this machine at all. Steams milk great, easy to clean and at 350/400 its a good buy.

Define a lot...My Doctors told me that 60 cups of Espresso a day was a tad to much and that I need to cut down. So I went to 30 a day on an average. The Doc once again said that was way to much. Now I've cut it down to maybe once a month. But I just ordered some fresh coffee so it will be a real test if I can keep the average down.

Other than that...the price of that thing is a few boxes of Opus. So I couldn't justify that for a coffee machine as my $30 Mr Coffee Espresso machine works just fine.

Lots of great suggestions here guys, thanks. I've got alot of study and reading to do.

Mr. Peat, I go through about a pound of beans a week. I don't think I want to know how many cups I have!!!

MiamiCubano, do you use the pods with that Illy machine or ground?? One of my favourite brands of coffee is Illy, so the machine might be just what I'm looking for if the machine quality is as good as the coffee.

I was sold on the SUPER AUTOMATIC systems after spending a few weeks in Germany last year. My Aunt and Uncle had a Saeco unit and it made great coffee, espresso etc. However, after some research and bargain shopping I decided on the Bosch TCA6301UC Benvenuto B30 Gourmet system ($975 shipped). I've had it since October and it makes a terrific drinks. Even with really cheap beans. I'd buy it again.

It has a version of "pods" you can use with that machine, but I always use whole beans, ground just prior to brewing. Illy or Lavazza is what I use a majority of the time for that machine, as well as Baby's.

Also...on the stove-top models...you will notice a huge difference if you step up from aluminum to stainless steel.

X2, as a grad student, if I could afford a better machine, I'd still spend the money on cigars :D

I will say this from personal experience. I wasn't joking about how many quadruple shots of espresso I had a day. It was a cup aka quadruple shot of espresso that had enough ground to make 2 strong pots of coffee and I'd have 30 to 60 cups of these a day. Then enter the massive chest pains and the left arm going numb. I told my Doc what was going on and I listened to him. You may want to think about that before its too late. Not to scare you but I still have systems after many years with insomnia and drinking excessive amounts of coffee. Still get random chest pains and the left arm still goes numb once in awhile. :(

Back to the topic....You may want to check this site out Newfie.

They have a whole section devote to Coffee stuff from home roasting and all that. Enjoy the research.

Had a roommate that had one of those machines and the major problem I had with it was the steam wand does not have a flexible neck for frothing the milk.It is kind of hard to use a frothing pitcher with this machine and they are not the most reliable machine out there (same person also had the upgraded version of this machine that completely broke down after only 6 months of use).If you want a superautomatic go with the Jura,I have a Nuova Simonelli Oscar and LOVE it.

You should probably read the new Coffee Geek article on home espresso set ups.

Linky!

Actually, I just found CoffeeGeek.com on the weekend and have spent wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy too many hours perusing that site for info.

Leave it to say I've decided against a Super Automatic machine and will go with a good grinder (maybe a Rocky) and probably a Gaggia or Francis Semi-Auto machine. I have a bunch of more research to do before taking the plunge.
