Pre light: The cigar seems to be very well constructed with only a few minor veins visible within the dark brown wrapper. The overall look of the cigar is very appealing as I find the wrapper to be very enticing along with an elegant yet moderately simplistic band. Cut open with my palio, checked the draw and it seemed a little tight, so I took a little more off the head and the draw was better but still just a little tight. A cold draw revealed a rich tobacco taste with a hint of sweetness.

The first third: In the beginning of this third I am getting notes of tobacco and dark chocolate. The ash is firm and white with very little flaking. The further I go I am also getting some notes of spice, perhaps something similar to nutmeg. This paired with the rich chocolaty notes are making for a very full flavored smoke thus far. The burn is very straight and the ash is still holding firm. If I had to make one complaint thus far it would be that I don’t get any taste from the wrapper. I usually like to get some residual taste left on my lips after drawing on the cigar however I don’t really get anything from this one.

The Second Third: More chocolaty spice can be detected as the flavors have become more pronounced. I am also starting to pick up on some sweetness, it’s just the right amount on the finish to make for a very enjoyable combination of flavors. It’s still burning perfectly and tuning out to be a very well rounded smoke.

The Last Third: Still notes of rich chocolate, nutmeg and maybe cinnamon are the prevailing tastes. Burn is still perfect. Smoked it down to about an inch and half left and then left it to go out.

Overall Impression: This was my first smoke by Drew Estates and I found it to be very enjoyable. This was a very well constructed cigar that produced a lot of thick smoke and never became bitter or unpleasant. It had a very well rounded combination of full flavors. I think this is a really nice stick and I urge others to give it a shot, however at ~$13.00 I would probably go for a VSG.

Next up for review…a Camacho Corojo Maduro

Great review on a great stick. Price could be better, but the toro is the same RG and length and can be had for a bit less.

Thanks Bruce..... I love these things too, but can't call them my go-to. At a couple smokes a day (and that's with no HERFs), I can't have these as a go-to stick. But I haven't had one in a bit....time to go spark one up. :)

I've got one of these I need to spark up, see what all the fuss is about. :D Great review!

Edit to add - Bruce is spot on...Isy is the man!

This stick is just beyond words for me tastewise ... just a fantastic stick to light up either on your day off with a great micro, and such a bargain for the price compared to other sticks of equal, if not lesser caliber!

Great review, gotta love the #9s

I've had a few of these, and they are indeed excellent. Amazing what Drew Estates can produce. :)

My absolute favorite stick and vitola

This stick is also in my top 5 all time, though I like the larger size...Los and I have something in common afterall...dirty rat

Nice review and thanks, I only hate to see too many people looking for an already impossible stick to find in Michigan :D
