I just had a very interesting cigar  . The DON CARLOS EDICION de ANIVERSARIO Double Robusto. This is a pricey one, $40. To celebrate the 30 year anniversary of Don Carlos cigars.

The smell of the foot gave promise of a nice smoke. This was a very complex cigar. Flavor profiles changed several times while smoking this robust cigar. Don't confuse this one with the regular Don Carlos.

The 1st inch or so was spicy and peppery. After that you could definetly tell that this cigar is related to the Opus X. There is even a little Opus X looking symbol on the band. The Opus flavor was mixed with many flavors but it did have a salty, in a good way, undertone during the middle third. I was kind of going crazy trying to figure out all the flavors.

The ash was very firm and white but the burn needed touching up a couple of times.

This is a very young cigar that shows a lot of potential. But at $1200 a box I probably wont be aging too many of them.

Here are a couple of pics:

Notice the uneven burn.

Hmmm, I've got one of each size, sounds pretty tasty, I don't think mine will last long either.

I believe the wrapper on these is a very aged Opus X Rosado wrapper -- it definitely is Dominican, and the appearance is similar anyway. Nice smokes, wish there was no humidor tax.

I knew there was a reason I had that on my wish list and you've just confirmed it :). Nice review!

Always a treat when someone reviews a rare such as this. Thanks!

Thanks for the review, I also have a few of these waiting to be burned. There is a threesome in th Pass with Class :whistling:

Great review and pics! I wish I had the cash to try one of those.

OK, had the cammie Shark tonight and it was good, just good, not great, not even note worthy, but good. It seemed very wet, which probably explains the mold issues.

The Don Carlos Anniversario however was orgasmic! Admittingly I had a hard time cutting this cigar as it just looked so damn good; that rosado wrapper (supposedly) looked so damn rich and lustrous I just hated to put a blade to it. After the cut the prelight draw was perfect, and the cut was excellent. There was a small spot that upon lighting, right in the center that just didn't want to take a light, but it took care of itself right away.

There was a very nice amount of spice/pepper at the start and like atuck mentioned, once 1/3 into the cigar, it really took on some hints of Opus. The burn was absolutely perfect, straight, tight lines, gray firm ash that never flaked.

I really wanted to hate this cigar as I know I'll not see anymore after my next two are gone. But that just wasn't the case, it was stellar. If the opportunity happens upon me again, I don't know that I could resist buying more, it was THAT good.

Great reviews fellas!!!
I could only hope to smoke one of these some day!!! I would feel to guilty to put a flame to it...

Wow Wade you graced us with a review! Nicely done buddy.

Thanks for the cigar porn, Atuck.
Those are beautiful...

Dear god Atuck, that is a thing of BEAUTY.

Yes....yes I would. Addy in profile. :D

I've never gotten too wound up about the high dollar Fuentes, but just looking at the wrapper on that thing makes me want to drop the coin on one just to admire. Damn tasty looking cigar.

Great thread and pictures! Very nice
