Alright here is the dual review for the La Aroma De Cuba cigars that Jon was nice enough to send to me. So I hope I do it justice. Without further ado, here are my reviews.

La Aroma De Cuba (I believe the Centro size)

It had a beautiful reddish brown wrapper, a little rough with a couple of pronounced veins but very nice none the less. The first thing though was the band. It has to be the prettiest band on a cigar I've seen yet.

The was a soft spot about mid way down, but it wasn't to big. After the cut, I tasted a slightly sweetish-sour taste on the pre-light draw. The draw was perfect as well.

The first third was of medium body with just a little detectable spice in the back of the throat.

I had a little bit of a burn issue but thankfully it fixed itself after a minute or two. The spice kicked up a little bit after the first inch or two in the back of the throat and through the sinuses. I tasted a little cedar in there, and towards the end of the 1st I started tasting a slight scotch aftertaste, when breathing out through my nose, which was kind of nice.

The second third turned into a slightly sour dark chocolate flavor which was interesting. The wrapper started bubbling a little at the burn line at this point. The burn line got a little uneven at this point. It got real bad at times and I had to touch it up 3 times. The tangy taste faded, which was kind of a bummer because I was beginning to like it. The scotch aftertaste was still there which I kind of liked too. The body kicked up a notch as well.

In the final third the body backed down a little and I started to taste nuts and fresh brewed coffee. It started to get soft and a little hot towards the end. But all in all I liked this cigar. It had a few tastes that I had not tasted yet.

Now to the La Aroma De Cuba Edicion Especial. I must say the wrapper on this smoke was absolutely stunning. I couldn't even see the seams on it. It looked just like one solid piece of wrapper leaf. There was a change to the band, instead of one woman there are now two. It still looks great. This pic doesn't do the wrapper justice though.

After cutting with my Zikar MTX scissors I tasted a very spicy nutty pre-light aroma. The draw was fantastic. Very free with little resistance. The first third was medium bodied with mild spice on the tip f the tongue. It tasted a little woody but not cedary at this point. After about an inch or so into it the spice bomb dropped. It felt as if I did a shot glass full of black pepper. Very pleasant. The burn line was razor sharp, though uneven at times and required a few touch ups. A cedar flavor came to the forefront, which I like.

The second third changed to the lighter side of medium with the cedar flavor going into the background. The spice kicked up a notch, tingling the sides of my tongue and the back of my throat which was nice. This is my first Pepin blend I've smoked, so it was great. The only problem I had was keeping the burn straight as it required a few touch ups.

In the final third the body jumped back up to medium. The spice was still there on the sides and back of my mouth. The cedar flavor came back to be the star of the show, which is fine by me. There was a nutty flavor coming up that I couldn't quite place. Pistachio maybe?

By the time I was done with this smoke the spice was thick and coated my entire mouth. Which if this is what I should expect from a Pepin creation, I've got to try more of his stuff.

All in all, I would have to say these two cigars tasted completely different to me. While both were extremely enjoyable, I could definitely tell and taste the difference between the two. I liked the Edicion Especial better I think though. I just want to thank Jon for the opportunity to do this Vs. review. I hope you guys like it.

I couldn't post all the pics I took for the review, because it wouldn't let me. So I had to put the best ones up.

Cheers!!

I had a coulpe of these gifted to me also, I have yet to try the Edicion Especial yet but I do enjoy the first one a good deal.

I really enjoy the regular ones. Stocked my humi with a few, and have an especial waiting to be smoked. These are a great smoke. Good review.

Wow! Totally different, huh? I thought they tasted very similar, but then again, I didn't compare the two togehter with such a level of detail. Well done! I guess I'm going to have to try them again. BTW, i see you smoke in your house, I'm envious!
