Thanks Wilkey, you are absolutely right about wording my posts better. I will never change my attitude on defending my friends, I couldn't even if I wanted to, but I can definitely use some work on my approach ! What I really wanted here with my post about leaving was to bring to light a pervasive attitude around here lately that is not conducive to enjoying the love of cigars or enjoying CP as a whole.

You're a cigar retailer, correct? Have you noticed that most of the other cigar vendors around here just post their specials and don't get involved in mixing it up when there are disagreements on boards like this? Heck, there are even times when board members take issue with the specials that the vendor posts and they don't respond at all.

Pretty much the ONLY thing that comes from any vendor who gets involved in disagreements is that they get people mad at them and they lose potential business from the person they offended and others who are upset that their friend was in a disagreement with said vendor. We've seen this time and time again here. The vendors who stay away from the "touchy" threads never find themselves involved in controversy.

Again, just a suggestion.

Probably the same reason my cigar box bird house business isn't exactly taking off. :laugh:

Bill, I understand exactly what you mean and no offense taken. I consider myself a member here first and a vendor second, as I stated earlier. I'm not here for the money, when I run specials here and eat the shipping do you really think I'm making any money at some of the prices I charge? You are absolutely right (now you better relish this moment, because it probably won't ever happen again), I'm here because I love cigars and now I'm in a position to give guys cigars at prices they may never see any where else. That's a whole lot of fun for me. Guys being able to enjoy a great cigar that maybe they couldn't normally afford. That is great stuff and I love being in a position of helping a fellow BOTL out when I can, that's why I'm here. To be a BOTL and friend to cigar lovers everywhere!!!!!

I agree that the broken bones thing was strong, but still, in Texas, them's fightin' words. I do understand the level of honor and friendship that Al is talking about. You have friends here who certainly do. It has been a while since I did, but I have read the Barney/Lee threat. You have nothing to be concerned about here.

As to why we're still discussing the cesspool matter here - you brought it back after it was already dead and buried.

C'mon null, I most certainlly did NOT "(bring) it back after it was already dead and burried", thehatguy did in post #17, and my first post in this thread wasn't until post #31.

By the way, I'm in Connecticut, not Texas and puffstuff is in Georgia.

Al has been a stand up member here since he joined. He has given this community a lot more than he has taken from it. I don't consider Al to be a typical retailer who's here to just make a buck. I think that's pretty clear by his past sales.

MANY members "stick their nose into issues" which have nothing to do with them directly such as box passes, box splits, and so forth and because they do, it's one of the main reasons why MANY others are attracted to this board rather than other boards where they delete posts and lock threads so I'm at a loss as to why this is "beyond" you or what rules are being broken here when members "stick (their) noses into issues which have nothing to do with them directly."

Many others have also given to this community a lot more than they have taken from it so I'm missing your point here too.

Rod, when I'm wrong, I'm man enough to own up to it and admit it. There are quite a few others around here who don't do that and I find that "troubling."

A guy that's been here so long you could decide who gets banned and who stays. You would go after guys time and again and sometimes for no good reason. I think back to the episode with Matty Vegas. Now I don't know Matty from a hole in the wall, he's not a friend of mine, I've never really chatted with him. All I know is, he tried to do something positive for Cigar Pass in helping to organize the 1st Annual Herf and all YOU did was undermine that whole effort from the get-go. Why? Who knows? Maybe you didn't like the way it was being organized, or the fact that a "newbie" was helping to organize it. I should have spoken up back then but I didn't. I stayed silent then because I was afraid of you, but I won't stay silent any longer. When I think you're needlessly attacking someone I'll speak up. I can only hope that others who see your tactics for what they are will do the same.

You obviously aren't concerned about this but I am, sorry if you disagree with me. I also remember some "friction" between gmiranda33 and puffstuff insitgated by puffstuff when gmiranda33 first signed up here which is why I made the statement I did. I received some PMs from puffstuff back then that made me feel uncomfortable about him.

With respect to matty vegas' attempts to organize a herf in Las Vegas, I raised what I thought were legitimate concerns and you aren't being fair or reasonable when you say

My first impressions about you were very positive however as time has gone on I don't feel that way about you at all anymore.

Bill, I'm tired. I'm tired of having to sift through threads where you stick your nose in and go after guys. You'll take a quote from once spot, a quote from another, put it all together to fit your version of the truth. Yes, you baselessly attacked Al because Al spoke out against you. Your reason that you remember "friction" between them when Gabriel first joined doesn't hold water considering Al and Gabriel have had a good relationship on this board all during this past year. You're using that as your reason for suggesting what you did about Al, and it's a flimsy reason at best.

I'm not the one who is intolerant of people. Check back on my history and see how many guys I've gone after on this board. Then go back and see how many guys you've gone after and decide who's intolerant. I believe you enjoy pecking away at someone who you don't like, making snide remarks in all their threads, attacking their spelling or grammar because when you have nothing else to go on, it's the best thing that will suffice.
