Anyone ever been robbed?

LilBastage

Meat is murder! Tasty, tasty murder.
We got home from the hockey game Saturday night to find a very cold house missing a few things. :(

The french door leading to the deck had been kicked through and they apparently had a pretty decent sized vehicle judging by the tire tracks in the driveway. Sheriff says there was likely 3 of them based on the footprints but it's hard to tell.

They got our new TV, some jewelry, a few knick knacks, the stereo, DVD player, some of my little boy's toys, and my "special" humidor (at least they didn't get my coolers or pipes). Luckily no one was home and they didn't get the safe, any firearms, and they stayed out of the garage. They also didn't hurt the dogs, which ran to the neighbors.

The insurance company is treating us right and we'll get most everything replaced. Unfortunately, some of the items aren't replaceable. :(

Needless to say, it's been a shitty weekend. Once we get everything taken care of we'll have a visit with the local alarm company.

It shakes you up pretty good. I wouldn't recommend the experience to anyone.

Damn man. Very very sorry for your loss. Thankful nobody human nor canine was hurt. Good luck rebuilding!

The feeling of being violated is much worse than any possessions lost. It's tough to get over. Take care.

Doc.

:(

Sorry to read this. Worst I've ever experienced was having CDs and change stolen from my car, and that sucked enough.

Alan:

I hope they catch them and give you a few minutes alone with them and I hope you make out okay with the insurance.

I'm sure the shock is pretty scary.

Doc.

This is the worst part. My little boy and my wife are REALLY feeling it. It's effecting me, but I'm comforted by the fact that no one was home at the time and my dogs are OK.

Thanks to all for the concern. We moved to the country to get away from this crap. At least we have a good insurance agent.

Sorry to hear about that. Glad no one was home and the dogs are OK. I was robbed at gunpoint in FL once and they took everything I had on me and in my car. I ended up getting hit with his pistol in the face, but was able to take off after that. I was just glad I was just hit, and not shot.

Damn that really sucks.
For the well being of the wife and kids you might want to consider an alarm system.

hard one to swallow, Alan. I still have problems, most of 2 decades later that someone besides me was looking through the wife's skivvies drawer.

Sorry about that. This really sucks! Been there, brutha. The worst thing for me (moreso than replacing stuff) was the feeling of violation experienced from knowing some bastids had forced their way through my home- a super personal place. Very unsettling.

A quick (lighter) note...

I still have 2 coolers full of cigars and it's 35*. I think I'm going to go have one. :)

Wow, sorry to hear about this Alan. Glad everyones Ok though.

I got robbed at college in the dorms 3x. Came back from spring break and winter break to find all our stuff stolen. Luckily we caught them when they tried to sell back the books they stole.

That is really scary. I am glad no one was home. It is nice to hear your insurance company is being helpful. Like others have stated, a good alarm system is in your future. Take Care.

Oh man Alan! Just read the thread and brother I am terribly sorry to hear that happened. I've had my home broken into before as well as my car. It's a down right dirty shame there are people out there that can do something like that. I'm certainly glad you're all physically okay, just hope that the mental part eases soon. If there's anything I can do....let me know! Thoughts are with you and yours my friend!

Damn man, I'm so sorry to hear that. At least you can take comfort in the fact that you and your family are safe. Just trust those bastids'll get theirs..... it's ineveitable! Karma's a biyatch you don't want to fug with.

Man that sucks. You wouldn't expect that type of behavior up on the "range" but I guess our world is changing. Probably some meth heads out lookin for some items to sell. Hang in there.

Lou
