Pipe Tobacco and Accessory Wish PIF

ok its been stagnant here for a couple days so I will expand my wish in hopes of getting the pond moving again.

I wish for

- anything from Corneihl and Diehl
- anything from Gl pease
- anything from samuel gawith
- Christmas cheer
-any McClelland bulk non aromatic
- or somebodies favorite non aromatic

So, let's start recruiting a bit, or get some other pipe smokers to come out of the closet.

Dios's wishes are pretty simple "any non aromatic," Im sure anyone can satisfy.

Do we want this PIF to die? Ive had the privelege of sampling things I never would have sought out on my own. Are we tired of participating, or just need new blood down here?

Suggestions on how to keep the PIF moving are greatly appreciated.

I think we're just running into the limitation of numbers. Maybe we shouldn't expect it to run quite as quickly as the cigar wish PIF.

It's a great deal of fun, but I surely would hate to think that people feel pressure to participate. That's really not what it's about.

Just some ideas from a rather curmudgeonly fellow... (at least until I get over this insomnia )

Something from them would be nice, a tin or something. I heard their tobacco is aromatic, but still good tobacco....

Boswells only comes in bulk, as they mix them in the store. However, it is a great place to start.

I think this is exactly right. There are a good solid double handful of guys who routinely post here in the Pipe Room and quite a few of them have popped up already on this thread.

I suspect, given my own experience, that pretty much any newbie is going to be totally intimidated. I'd love to participate, but I have nothing, literally nothing, to send. I've been smoking cigars for 14 years, and my first pipe was shipped from JM Boswell on the 11th, with tobacco, and hasn't gotten here yet... I don't have a single ounce of pipe tobacco in the house!

My situation is probably extreme, but pretty much any newbie is going to feel intimidated, probably everything they have in the closet is relatively easy to find and buy, and so it's unlikely they can grant someone elses wish... frankly, they are probably being pretty mature in that they aren't asking for a wish because they know they aren't in a position to fulfill a wish.

Maybe I'm just reading the initial post too literally, but it's actually kind of nice that there are good baseline rules. Many PIF type deals degenerate completely into dozens of people no one knows well piling in and wishing for all sorts of outlandish stuff...

So, there's $0.05 (adjusted to a basket of currencies including the euro) from a newbie... LOL

AS I see what you are saying, I would encourage anyone to not feel intimidated. We are a community of brothers with a fellow hobby that have a passion for it, to some extent. We are here to help and also to learn, as many people excel in some areas that others do not. I realize we have limitations of numbers, and that this is a CIGAR forum, but we also have other hobbies which include fine beverages and of course, pipes and cooking that we like to chip and and share.

I offered my wish for someone who is in your type of situation. You don't have much, but you want to see what the hype is about. You don't have to fulfill a wish in order to get one this time, just wish a way, and you will at one point or another, become more diverse and learn more when it comes to pipes.

If you want the wish, by all means please have it, as I want to share with you (or someone else) the joys of pipe smoking.

I'm a guy who's been smoking cigars for 14 years, so that's the planet I'm from... and I'm a total pipe newbie.

If someone out there with an extensive stash wanted to take a few moments, glance through their collection, and pick out a few things they liked when they started, and send them on, I'd be thrilled.

I suspect given my cigar preferences that I will not be all that interested in aromatics or cased tobacco in general, but hell, I don't know.

In general, I'm trying to keep things somewhat simple to start. In particular, I only have one pipe, and so I don't want to smoke anything too weird in it... and I probably couldn't appreciate anything too exotic at this point, anyway.

I tend to smoke cigars with at least three to five years of age on them, as I don't like too much nicotine, so I'd definitely prefer pipe tobacco without a lot of kick... and I'd be really interested in trying some pipe tobacco with a few years of age on it.

BTW, I'll be happy to grant a wish for someone if they had any cigar related wishes... and will keep an eye on this thread for wishes of that sort...

I'm going to clarify what a crumble cake is just in case there is someone who is unfamiliar, as when i first started smoking I had a couple crumble cakes without even knowing. A crumble cake is very similar to a flake, except it is much thicker and falls apart very easily. Generally speaking size wise if penzance were more delicate then it would be a crumble cake. If anyone is looking for a good cake for bilder then crumble cake from smokershaven.com, is an excellent latakia blend.

yes penzance is a crumble cake, I must have been smoking crack earlier when I wrote that. However on a technicality penzance is a little less delicate than you average crumble cake. But yes truly it is a crumble cake.
