CP's "Cigar 101" Newbie Pass 5

Dave, with this being a newbie pass and all, I think that Johnny-O should remain in your stash. I believe there was a discussion in the previous newbie pass about like for like (NC for NC, ISOM for ISOM). While we would all love to snag that Johnny-O from the pass, putting in an ISOM in a newbie pass shouldn't be done
One man's opinion.

Not a problem Los, I'll try to find that discussion so I can better understand things.

I originally had the sungrown in so I'll put it back in against the Padilla Miami corona.

T #27 Padilla Miami Coronas 5-1/2 x 42 - 20 or 25/ box 6.86 ea. These are sold 20 to 25 per box as follows.
179.95 CI (25/ct) - 139.95 SeriousCigars (25/ct) = 319.90 / 2 vendors = 159.95 / 25 ea. = 6.40
149.95 ShowMeYourAsh (20/ct) - 160.95 CigarsDirect (20/ct) - 129.95 TowerCigars (20/ct)
= 440.85 / 3 vendors = 146.95 / 20 ea. = 7.35
6.40 + 7.35 = 13.75 / 2 = 6.88 total average costs per ea.
P #84 San Cristobal Seleccion del sol robusto 5 x 52/20 = 7.19 ea
144.00 JackSchwartz - 143.95 SeriousCigars - 143.95 Holts
= 431.90 / 3 vendors = 143.97 box / 20 = 7.19 ea

I'll put a Viaje Exclusivo Chiquito 4.75 x 51 in to replace Put #90.

Sorry to see you leave Jimmy, I had high hopes another Egg would be put in the pass!

Let some others chime in on this one before you replace anything.

I agree with Los on the Johnny-O. I believe this being a newbie pass the we should keep everything NC. Alot of new guys don't have CC so they could not trade for it even If they wanted it.

sorry, I'm at work and my computer is really slow so I can't search for the thread like I usually would do before posting.

This is my thought on why I chose a Johnny-O. I'd like your opinions so I can learn for the future.

I can't buy authentic cubans due to illegality, and customs will confiscate any order I do place from a foreign vendor (which they recently did

).

Johnny-O is (irregardless of his country of birth) residing and working in the USA. His product can be bought and shipped outright through the postal system. Is his tobacco grown in America?

Isn't that an american product? *scratching head*

I've been fuzzy on the Johnny-O's too since I no nothing about their origin. I believe Greg and most of the more experienced brothers consider them to be CC's.

The question about CC's was asked by drunkfish3 in post #29 and answered (no) by Greg in post #31.

As much as I and others would love to have that Johnny-O! in there, it is definitely Cuban and so not allowed. Those will be coming next in the 201 pass. :D

Not a problem guys! I will continue on with my original Put which is the San Cristobal Sungrown robo and the addt'l put is a Viaje Exclusivo Chiquito (thanks Mark @ Tower!)

How's my pricing otherwise? Good to go?

I'm trying to pack it up tonight and send it to Charles so it will get there by Friday.

Thanks for the input everyone, ya made my day, I've been sitting on ISOM's all this time. WOOHOO!

The box has arrived. I will repackage the load into a smaller box, there was some spare room. Initial inspection: One of the bags is comming appart at the zip, so I'll replace that. Everything else looks good.

Everything looks good Dave! Thanks for playing brother and have safe travels!

I believe I have the first post updated correctly, please double-check it to make sure.

Thanks for playing Mike and helping out with the box size!

Shant and I will be putting up our T/P's later today after we pow wow a bit to make sure we have everything lined up. Ready and waiting on our end to receive the pass and take care of Dave. :)

Nasty, good point on the Johnny-O!.

*EDIT*

Quick discussion for you gents: Oliva Special S. Considering these are no longer being made, would these be considered, "rare"?

Also, if I have a box of Drac's coming in this week by Thursday, would me using a Drac as a put for the T110 be an OK thing, or is there a problem with not having the Drac yet in hand? Would it be prudent to wait until Thursday when I do in fact have them in hand, or should I not consider it as a put at all?

Thanks for having me Greg. It was a real learning experience!

I would think if a cigar has been discontinued it would have some rarity as long as it is no longer available for purchase/demand is high. Any others have thoughts? :)

You can throw the Drac/T110 up there, fine with me. Can always revise later if needed.

To me rarity comes when something is difficult to get ahold of. I haven't searched the stick in question, but if it is HTF, even if it is still in production, it can still be "rare." Just this noob's take.

Charles, I got my box out to you today. DC 9405 5036 9930 0030 1452 51

I'd like to thank all you guys for letting me play, especially you Greg, didn't realize it could be this much fun and hard work all at the same time.

Hope I can get invited to a 201 class!

Dave

As for the Oliva Special S, is it the diadema size?
I see Thompson cigar and Rocky's cigar has 'em, none of the normal vendors I buy from. Is that the one you're referring to?
I've seen a video review and it looks good to try.
Which cigar are you trying to replace?
