I have not tried the Upmans, but have smoke my share or MC4s which I can recommend. Thanks to others on this site, I have bought and tried some Dip., and SLR PCs which I have found quite good.

If you can get them for $2.00 a stick and age them for two years they make good little smokes. A bit harsh but you still get the island taste. I think of these as the Tampa Nugget of ISOMs.

I have always removed cigars from the 5x5 packaging for aging, but, I am sure they would continue to age in the packs if stored properly.

Thanks for the recommendations. I have found a box each of the Bolivar, ERDM, SLR, and Dip4. The latter two are the only ones ready to burn. The DIP4 was a pleasant smoke with great flavor and draw but the construction of this 02 box was a bit spongy. The SLR is very good around so far...

I use a single blade, trying to cut along the first of the three rings closest to the cap. I don't think it matters except to the individual.

La Flor de Cano PC are good when aged.

I checked RASS - I have not tried all these, but I have had several boxes of the RASS and have always been well pleased with them.

I primarily smoke the Montecristo #4s but find construction and cosistency have suffered from the mass production to meet the worldwide demand. I am too cheap to pay Cohiba prices. Anyone have any recommendations for other PCs that will make a good substitute????
