Whatever cigar you choose, make sure the tobacco needs to be aged for a couple of years before it smokes great and the construction is hit or miss. If the draw is tight, you'll have yourself a cigar that is very comparable to the Cubans.
I had one of these when they first came out. I thought it was ok. Not very dimensional. It just had a slightly sweet, spicey flavor and not much else. It may have needed more time to rest to bring some more flavors out. It wasn't a bad cigar, but just that I didn't fall in love with.
You can go to the Cuban Cigar Factory in the Gaslamp District (downtown). A lot of fun with great music and great beer and wine, but bring your own cigars because they are $$$. Seriously.
what's the difference between the regular BBMF and the Forbidden X BBMF? When I was at Casa Fuente, they said the Forbidden X line uses tobacco that is 16 years old, but that doesn't sound right. So, anybody know?
BTW, great review and pictures!
I just found out yesterday that if we were to carry them in our shop here in California, the "Dark" Robusto would run about $24 or so. If it's true that he's planning on doing the rolling at his plantation in Hawaii, it might be able to bring the prices down due to the savings in the shipping.
I smoked one of these at the shop. It was the "Dark" Robusto. The first half inch was a little rough, but after that it opened up very nicely. And the construction was absolutely perfect. I don't think I ever smoked a cigar with better construction. I lit it once and never had to re-lite...
Just ordered the sampler. Can't wait to try the Tatuaje coffee. Now if I had a few Black Label cigars to compare with the Black Label coffee... :whistling:
Thanks for the info Pete! Can't wait to get these and the Black Labels in at Grant's. I'm in love with the Guapos, and would LOVE to try a smaller ring size of these.
Thanks for all your hard work!

I love their mojitos. Very tastey.
I spoke with one of the bartenders there and she told me about their tobacco-infused Grand Marnier. She said that they take one of those tea filters (the round metallic ball filters) and put some pipe tobacco in it. Then, pour the GM over it, and let it sit...
I was told not to do it unless you have a pipe specifically for doing this. It can lead to an unpleasant flavor in the pipe when you try to smoke some pipe tobacco. Not sure if there is any validity to it, but I wouldn't risk a nice pipe for it.
I have tried it though with some other pipes...
when it comes to tobacco and a B&Ms pricing, you also have to factor in their tobacco taxes. CA has a 46.76% tax which they have to tack on to each box they receive before they can even put their own prices on it. Being a retailer here in CA, it's very difficult when somebody comes in and says...
I have had a couple of these. They are pretty good cigars. The term "nutty" really comes to mind. Very nutty with a little bit of spice. I haven't had one in a while, but I might have to light up another for good ol' times sake.
