After years of trying The 1951 Balvenie Vintage Cask

I finally got one. The 1951 Balvenie Vintage Cask was the first released under the Vintage Cask moniker. Distilled in 1951 and bottled in 1996 at 45 yo there were only 90 produced from Cask 1236 although a small amount (6 bottles worth) was siphoned off to sit for another two years to be bottled as a 47 yo. This leaves me one shy of having a complete collection with only the 1952 50 yo to go. At about $11,000 ($8K 2 years ago) I don't see that happening unless you guys start up a collection. After this one it will be awhile before I can afford to look across the street.

There is this bottle of cognac that has been calling my name for some time (pre phylloxera). I think I'm gonna pull the trigger.
 
If it's not too much to ask can you type up a list of your Balvenie Vintage Cask collection or better yet post a photo or 3. I can't be the only one that would love to see it.

That bottle is beautiful. Not the most expensive bottle but still pretty impressive. Congrats Ray... I guess you won't be opening that bottle
any time soon. :laugh:

But I'm also with Doc. I don't think I could hold back from opening it. Too tempting.
 
I love Scotch but everytime I think about "collecting" it I'm reminded of what Ron White said about his cigars: "calling it a collection would imply I'm not going to smoke every damn one of them." :rolleyes:

Thing of beauty, though. I'd love to spend a long weekend with a bottle like that. :thumbs:

Since most of the collection is not sitting out I don't have a picture of it but I do have a picture of each bottle individually. I do know what it is worth but I don't think it is a good idea to post that. The list of vintage casks that I own is below.

Ron White not withstanding, I've got 100 open bottles I can choose from so having some off limits isn't that difficult. ;)
