I was in LV for an accounting conference (yeeehaaaa) and I managed to slip away and skamper from Planet Hollywood over to Ceasar's on Friday afternoon........Marco, sorry we didn't get to meet, I figured you'd be at work since the only time I could find to get away was at about 1:30 on Friday.....
Well, those who know me know I am not a Fuente Koolaide guy and that I'll be honest about my impressions of whatever. I walked in and was immediately impressed with the staff, and I am not talking about the implants or outfits. Implants and outfits are part of Vegas no matter where you go so the fact that the girls are pretty and the outfits are provacative is a given. I found it no better or worse than anywhere else. What was great was that the folks there were friendly and knew enough about what they were talking about with respect to the cigars. There are plenty of vacant and unfriendly pretty girls out there, fortunatey it seems that none of them work at the Casa.
I followed six early 20-somethings into the store who were well into a bachelor party all day bender. They were funny as hell in the humidor...in fact the first guy asked the girl if she sold any Bahia's, LOL. He picked up a VSG Wizard and asked me what I thought. I told him he probably should stay clear unless he wanted to lose his boooze earlier than expected. I told him it would be a bummer to get sick BEFORE you get all trashed and get your VIP treatment at Spearmint Rhino! He laughed at me and took my advise that an Ashton 8-9-8 would be a much better choice. Another of them had a Chili Pepper in his hand and was psyched about the bargain he found until she informed him they were not 75 bucks for a BOX. They were funny. It reminded me of my gang back in the day.
Anyway, the selection was about what I expected so I didn't get all moist in the pants about all the Opus and other stuff. The "woo hoo I won big at the casino and I'm too drunk to care what this stuff costs" selection was actually smaller than I figured it would be....BBMF, Chili Pepper, LBMF, Forbidden Lanceros, Ashton ER and the 13's were about all I saw. I didn't get the girl's name who was in the humidor but I enjoyed talking with her about the cigars and the nuances between her favorite (the VSG line) and mine (the cammy's of the hemi and Don Carlos lines). Yeah, I know, what a cigar geek I am.
For the cigars, I snagged a Casa torpedo for a buddy of mine who has a fetish for and a fairly large collection of, cigars that end in a point and I was going to just grab a CASA CG to smoke when, on my last trip through the humidor, my eye hit something interesting. A long skinny cedar wrappped Don Carlos??? Could it be? It was. Well, for a Lancero whore who also happens to be a Don Carlos fan who has never laid eyes on a Don Carlos Lancero it was a huge find. I looked to the price expecting the first number to be a 3 or a 4 and without disclosing the price I think I got a monster bargain even though I was in Vegas. They had a posted limit of five but after talking a while to my new friend I asked if I could get ten. Like the car salesman she wants to someday be she went up the chain of command and asked the guy at the register who allowed me to get twice the legal limit since by that time there was no one else in the humi, LOL.
I had one snipped and lit up and went to the outer lounge to smoke and hopefully enjoy a much touted Casa Fuente Mojito. It was a very pleasant 90 minutes. I had two very good mojitos, smoked a Don Carlos Lancero that lived up to all expectations, watched the US Open golf with one eye and the Vegas scenery with the other eye. I did miss the accounting class question and answer session, but I think it was probably worth it, LOL. The best was that after finishing my cigar and drinks I went back in to visit the humi one more time and my new friend told me that the cashier had changed shift so if I wanted to get a few more lanceros she wouldn't care. Well...............................I did. I don't know her name, although Marco might (I told her to send Marco my regards, so if she did he may know who I am talking about). I am also not naive enough to think I got any super special treatment, but I was impressed all the same.
Overall, I give it very very high marks for the whole experience. They have a very nice operation. GREAT staff, nice product, a killer location, and good drinks. The accounting seminar was NOT a waste of time so I'll head back to Vegas for it next year, and yes, this koolaide "hater" will absolutely be visiting the Casa again.
