I know I know...it's been said a million times but ther is NOTHING better than sitting outside w/ a gladd of bourbon, a fine ceegar and wireless highspeed internet!!

High-Speed internet is the wave of the future, it's like night and day compared to dial-up.
Me likes it........alot. :)

High speed is the best.

Even in the slow periods, it's way faster than dial-up. I have to go to my parents and use their computer just to remind myself how bad dial-up was. :sign:

I just got rid of my highspeed connection, too expensive. But it is great, hopefully they'll come up with something where it's cheaper, or they actually give you a deal with having cable too, who knows. Have fun, and make sure it's secure, I found people using mine all the time, hopefully not for something illegal. :) :)

There was just an article in PCWorld (newsletters) on the fact that many wireless users don't bother securing their network connection. The gist of it was that the instructions and process were too difficult and time-consuming for the average home user.

On a related topic, some guy just travelled an area of SoCal with a special antenna/sniffer, and found hundreds of unsecured nodes in a very small area. Sorry, can't remember the details, but since the article was in 2 Oregon papers, I'm sure it was available elsewhere.

One of my good friends gets wireless connection in his apt... from one of his neighbors. In my own neighborhood, whenever MY network goes down, I just hop on one of my neighbors. For the most part, its not a big deal... but for those bad seeds who go looking for trouble, it can be a world of hurt. I had my network secured by a friend who understands the gobs and gobs of instructions needed to do so.

But back to the subject of high speed, you just dont realize how good it is until you have it. :)

I use the encryption on mine so no one can get in, but I do have access to about 6 different wireless units within my complex :D
Now here's one for the books: Seems as thou the cops arrested a guy for kiddy porn, he was ridding around in his car with his laptop and stealing wireless service to feed his habit. Those people whoes service he was stealing where lucky cops got him and authoritys did not go after them as the porn was d/l threw there IPS

The example that I always gave when teaching the stuff...wireless or just email (ex: giving someone the rights of using your email account) ...

Imagine, if you will, how fast the Secret Service would be at your door if a certain message were sent towards our Commander in Chief.
