Beloved actor Andy Griffith died this morning.​

Former UNC President Bill Friday says The Andy Griffith Showand Matlock actor died at his home in Dare County, North Carolina around 7 a.m.​

This is sad news indeed. I grew up watching The Andy Griffith show and passed my love of the show on to my children.

What a true American icon. He was able to be a television and movie star without resorting to vulgarities or obscenities to obtain true comedic genius.

Each of the Andy Griffith shows had a message contained in it along with the comedy.

He has now teamed back up with his "Deputy" Barney Fife (Don Knotts)
