"ARE YOU CRAZY?! 700 FOR A LIGHTER?!"

I was thinking so hard in my head... "So you got several pairs of $600 shoes and a few couple thousand dollar purse" but being the brave man that I am, I did not voice my concerns (Don't want to sleep with the dogs tonight)
Anyway I am going to experiment with lighters! Can anyone here help me out, you guys have been great so far, so for my numerous new posts, I am still trying to figure things out!
Alright my budget for the lighter is under 500, but it has to be soft flame, not made in china and preferably does not require a proprietary refill <--- I hate those!
Here is what I am looking at so far:

Is there any reason you want to spend that much on a lighter? Not trying to whiz in your Cheerios, but you can pick up a Xikar with a lifetime warranty for under 100 bucks (even at MSRP on I think all of their stuff) and spend the other 400 on cigars :) Most expensive lighter purchase I made was a Corona Old Boy pipe lighter at 80 bucks, and I waffled back and forth on that for months, lol. I'd much rather spend the dough on tobacco than fire.

I agree with nismo, 400 is overkill for a lighter (even though i get why the Dunhill is so much.. its a Dunhill lol) but the others meh.. just get yourself a nice $100 lighter then spend the money on some good cigars!but if you insist.. get the Dunhill ;)
 
50 bucks, 500 bucks, chances are that in a year it's on the fritz anyways.
 
There's a reason I make fun of girls who spend 300$+ on purses and shoes when the fabric used and time spent is no different than the 20$ purse and shoes at the local Wal-mart but because of the name brand they're "better"...
You can purchase a quality lighter between 40$ and 80$ that is going to, in the long run, do the same job as the 500$ lighter...which, why would you want to spend that much on the heat source? Put that funding towards the smokes.
 
Over the last 40yrs, I have had nothing but bad luck with expensive lighters. Don't do it, it's a waste of money. You're better off with this:

If, you really want to spend that kind of money, I would look into vintage lighters. Soft flame lighters made back when will last forever if they were taken care of.
 
I can understand the draw to having some nice man jewelry. I always like eye-googling the Tag Heur's at Costco, and the DuPont lighters. Guys need their toys also.

I've been using a Blazer for my torch and a knock off DuPont soft flame that I can charge with Blazer fuel. Works for me.

Regarding your choices, I really like the looks of the Double Corona, and it seems like a bargain compared to your other choices. I've heard nothing but good things regarding Coronas....
 
I would suggest doing the same thing everyone else here says, spend under $100 on the lighter and $400 on more cigars to light with said lighter...

Maybe you should sent Rod a PM, and see if he can get you a nice soft flame lighter...
 
Look around for "La Gloria Cubana Soft Flame Lighter".

Cheap but they work well.

A friend gifted me one...very nice.

That looks to be the same as the "Punch Ping" lighters. I bought a Punch one a year ago and was so impressed with it, I now have 6 spares, brand new, still in the box. I picked them up on Cbid for between $15 and $20. I have been on a soft flame lighter kick recently, actually for the last year or more, and have tried several different models. So far my favorites are the Punch Ping and Xikar Flintfire I. I've tried the Vector Emperor, Colibri Regal, Xikar Flintfire II, and the Colibri hybrid. What makes the Xikar Flintfire I and Punch Ping stand out from the crowd so much, is how awesomely easy it is to adjust the flame. They both have an easy to use adjustment dial, flip up the D-ring and twist!

I honestly can not recommend the the Punch Ping lighter (or the other clones) and the Xikar Flintfire enough.
 
I am taking your wifes side also, $100 is TOPS of a lighter. I just go to my local cigar bar and use their wooden matches.
