Yes, I finally pulled the trigger and my Macallan 57 in the Lalique Finest Cut decanter is currently on the way from Scotland. Only 400 world wide and only 40 of those to the U.S. so I think it's a pretty sound investment. I will keep all posted. I'm excited.

Yes, retail is just over $15k . I think most of the US bottles are allocated so what I'm seeing is the few that are listing it for sale have it for 17-18k. I figure after they all ship it should be worth well into the 20s and just go up from there. The older Mac Laliques are going for almost double what they retailed for and they are only a few years old. Time will tell.

A bit, but I would have bought other things for that kind of cash.

If one is able to comfortably afford to buy such things, then I say go for it. You only go around once.

Well I have already been lucky enough to taste it so I don;t see cracking the bottle open any time soon. For now I see it is an investment as well as a great addition to my mac collection. And if the time is right... crack it open and enjoy.

WOW, the time would have to be REALLY, REALLY, REALLY right to crack open a bottle of $15K scotch or $17-18K or whatever. Nice bottle though and congrats on finding something so rare. I certainly understand collecting and the constant desire and chase!

Does that mean you can drink it, smash it and then claim it? :whistling:

Those pesky burglars...drinking and smashing bottles... ;)

I know what you mean I was all excited because I found GlenFiddich and GlenLivet for $14.99 a piece at Smart and Final. I am not sure I would be allowed in the store that carries this bottle. Probably need a minimum credit score or something. Nice score regardless though!

Wow, I'd have to stock up since I can't touch a fifth of either of those for less than $40 here.
