Cancer claims another one.

Not sure how many Beastie Boys fans are around here, but a lot of high school memories have their music playing in the background. Another little piece of my childhood gone. Only 47 years old, too. Way too soon...

I'm with you, sad time. I remember going to their concert at the Fox theater in Detroit. In the middle of the concert there was a fire in the womens room and they sent everyone outside. We hung out in the parking lot and them they let us back in.

Hell, I still love the Beasties. I probably listen to something of their's at least once a week. Really sad.

Also, if you are a sports fan, especially basketball, you owe it to yourself to check out the documentary Gunnin for That #1 Spot, directed and produced by Adam Yauch.

That is a damn shame. Lots of good memories from the Beasties. I remember I'd just started hearing there stuff being played locally and went to study in Czechoslovakia in the summer of 88. One weekend we took a bus to go to a little fair in the country, and they were blasting "License to Ill" nonstop on the rides. Good times.

"If you can feel what I'm feeling then it's a musical masterpiece
But if you can hear what I'm dealing with then that's cool at least
What's running through my mind comes through in my walk
True feelings are shown from the way that I talk"

RIP... :(

When I was a freshman my buddys dad had the same exact crown vic as in the Sabotage video and we would make him blast it on the radio as we were driving around! Of course we had the aviators as well! I just popped on the radio and Brass monkey is on. Wow those were the days.

What a loss. I can remember where I was and what I was doing in life when the BBoys albums were released anytime I listen to one. He was a talent in the music business as well as in the business of life and I for one will miss him.

What a terrible shame, RIP. He and the Beasties really paved the way for a lot of artists and music.

I last saw them at the 2007 Virgin Fest in Baltimore. The Police were the headliners but the Boys almost stole the show. RIP MCA

It sucks to think that my childhood is starting to die... but at least in this case his music still plays... Great musician and he will be missed.
