Counterfeit Cigars - Top news story on Yahoo today

I've already been warned by a few co-workers and one friend about this, sicne they saw the story. I politely thanksed them and let them know I am aware of the situation. The guy I gifted a ISOM Monte this morning just asked where I got it! Sheesh!

Quote from the article:

"Americans smoked about 5.1 billion large cigars in 2005 and spent about $3.2 billion on all cigars. Of those, about 321 million were classified as premium — that is, they were handmade, usually comprised of long tobacco filler instead of chopped tobacco, and retailed for at least $1 apiece."

How many of us would consider any cigar that retails for "at least $1" to be a premium?

I stopped in a smoke shop in Hays KS the other day just to see what they had. In the humidor they had Cohiba's with the familiar ISOM band, only instead of Hecho en Habana (or whatever) they said Dominican Republic.

Fauxiba?

They were not red dots.

Thoes are illegal to sell also. They are not sold by General Cigar.
