Well, I've been thoroughly enjoying the site and the humidor with cigars that I received for my birthday. I'm ready to make some purchases...but what? Here are a couple that I've smoked so far that have stood out for me:
La Aroma de Cuba Robusto
La Aurora 1495 Robusto

Of the sampler that I received, those are the ones I've liked the best. Any thoughts on what I should try next?

Thanks! Wilson

It depends on how much money you want to spend, what vitola you like so you know how much time you want to spend smoking a cigar (sounds like robusto though), full, medium, or a light smoke. It's hard to recommend something to someone else because everyones opinion on a cigar may vary.

Well, my budget is probably around 10 bucks or less. I tend to like the medium-bodied smokes - I smoked the Rocky Patel "The Edge" the other day, and it was definitely a bit strong for my taste. At least at this point. Robustos are a good size, just due to time management issues which I won't go into here. :D

What did u like about those cigars

The flavors were excellent, they both burned well. All-around enjoyable, I guess. That may not be helpful!

You can't go wrong with Padron 2000's. Many in the community here pointed me in that direction and I must admit that for the price, it's a very enjoyable cigar. I have been smoking the naturals, but everyone talks about the maduro's and how good they are. That will be my next endeavor.

I've also been enjoying the CAO Brazilia line quite a bit... but it seems everyone's taste is a bit different.

I'll second the La Gloria Cubana Wavell (I like the natural) and the Padron 2000 (I like the maduro), both are excellent value smokes in the medium(ish) range. The LGC is on the milder side while the Padron is on the fuller side.

Others that I enjoy, in no particular order, include Avo XO (mild), Arturo Fuente Chateau sungrowns (mild-medium), Cuesta Rey Centro Fino sungrowns (mild-medium), Ashton Heritage Puro Sol (mild-medium), Arturo Fuente Hemingway Short Story (medium), Hoyo de Monterrey Dark Sumatra (medium), and Ashton VSG (medium-full).

I've no doubt there are many more recommendations you will receive, but of the smokes I've had these are the ones I've enjoyed the most.

I say pick up a bunch of different ones in a smaller vitola like petite corona. They are less expensive and easy to fit in if time is a factor. Once you find something you like than explore that blend in each of it's vitolas.

Judging by what you said you liked, I think you'd enjoy an Arturo Fuente Don Carlos or perhaps their Sun grown Chateau Fuente or Cuban Belicoso.

Just keep smoking that Aroma de Cuba bro, for real, don't get into anything else. I started with the exact same smoke, my first box actually. You know what. I got to the bottom of that box and I still loved that smoke. Now I haven't had one for ages, and holy mother of God where did all my money go......

To CigarBid Wilson, that's where all my money went. And ISOM box splits. Who can say no to an ISOM box split. Not me. Not the devil on my shoulder. But forget that, stay away from CigarBid dude, best advice you will ever get in your cigar life. Give them the finger, do a drive-by, smear blood on their windows, whatever, but don't ever send them any money.

Stick with those Aroma de Cubas bro, for real. Think I'm bullshittin', you just wait.

Thanks for the note. I do like those Aroma de Cubas a lot.

Quick question - what does ISOM stand for? I've been wracking my brain trying to figure it out. It's also not listed on the lingo page.

Never mind, I found it. Very clever.

+1

I have similar tastes to what you describe, and I found all these to be great smokes. You should also give the HDM Excalibur a try IMO.
