Hello from Tatuaje

I feel like my parents just had an arguement and decided to get divorced.

More like two friends that had a disagreement and aren't hanging out together anymore. I can still be friends with and support each of them.

Nope... too many fine cigars out there to support one that has questionable business practices. (My opinion BTW...) I, as a consumer, support those that support me. Why there was a blowout over sale prices is rather draconian. I mean really... a box here and there to CP members, once in a great while? It's not like they were his everyday price we could call in and get, let alone in store prices. Then he joins for the purpose of watching for the sales? I didn't want to believe that when it was mentioned, and gave him the benefit of the doubt. I think I was was wrong...

Nope... like I won't buy certain software and games by certain companies due to support issues, I won't support certain groups (Political, religious and so one) because of their histories, I won't further buy Tatuaje cigars. Will Pete become poor because of it? No. Will I sleep better knowing I'm supporting a friend? Yes. Will I miss them? Hell Yes! I like them... a lot. But it's everyones choice.

Now if Al does in fact carry them thru other sources... well, there's a quandary! I'll only buy them during his CP super special sales :whistling:

Now excuse me... I'm off to cry over the fact I won't get Noella Reservas any more

Pete - you sell one hell of a cigar, sad to see this business relationship end like this. You're more than welcome to continue posting your product releases on the forum, and I hope you change your mind about publicly answering questions on CP. You have a lot of fans here, and new members are joining everyday; wouldn't be fair to exclude them all. Something to think about. Best of luck to you...

Less than he used to.

Josh

Well put.

Not that it matters a hill of anything to Pete, or anyone else, but I've purchased plenty of Tatuajes and Cabaiguans from B&Ms, online, and from members of various boards in the past. No longer.

There are eight million stories in the Naked City; this is just one of them.

Doc.

Al has done a lot for this community. He doesn't sell cigars at a set low price all the time. He simply posts specials on CP once in awhile, and allows people to try cigars they wouldn't otherwise be able to purchase. The specials that Al posts on CP are not his regular in-store prices. They are offered on occasion and for a very limited time period, or only on so many boxes.

I'm responding to this with the hope that some of our comments will resonate and be taken to heart. I wholeheartedly agree with what Rod posted above. I'm a perfect example. I started with a box of Hermosos from Al (through a CP special). I then bought two boxes of Angeles (from Al at his regular price). Then it was a box of Regios. God knows how many loose sticks I've picked up. It all stemmed from Al. I understand protecting prices and maintaining the value of your cigars. However, I think Rod hit this on the head. Al was doing a lot more for your product here than selling a few boxes below a price point. He was promoting Tatuaje like nobody I've seen.

Yep, totally agree. If not for Al, I would have never tried these, which led me to buy many many more boxes.

Well stated Jim, and I agree completely. This thread has revealed all I need to know (and perhaps far more than Pete realizes) about the character of the man behind the label.

I suspect Pete is who he is and, much like a leopard can't change its spots, he will remain so. But if there's one thing you (i.e., Pete) can take away from this (since any lessons as to virtue will probably be lost), it's simply that, at the very least, sometimes it's better to say less.

Edited to add -

Saw Pete reading this thread as I began posting...guess he had nothing else to say on this matter; not that anything he has to say means anything from this point.

Not the great resolution that I think we were all hoping for, but at least this is resolved.

I'll happily still buy Tatuaje cigars from Al, and I'll happily smoke any Tatuaje that a member turned off by this thread can't stomach anymore... ;)

I hope Pete stays around the board and the torch-and-pitchfork wielding mob doesn't scare him off.

ANY manufactures rep that is on CP can only benefit the community, and THAT should be OUR (members) #1 concern.

Like a member once said before . "Some ppl just dont get it!"

The #1 concern for members should be the integrity of this Board and community.
Without integrity we are left with nothing.
Why do you think members on here fight so hard to keep this board above all other communities?

Well no one has been rude to Pete here, we stated opinions and hoped for a positive outcome. You make it sound like we tarred and feathered him

Sorry guy but you misunderstood me about the UFC thing. I training with guys that I working on sponsoring. Trust me, I ain't getting in the ring, I am just training. The training is hard enough.
My wife's cousin is a fighter. I will not mention his name because some of you would probably trash him also.

Tex, I will be sending you an email......

Geez, I was gonna say, Pete... *I'd* step in the ring against you! :)

Not much to add here except that I think Pete's a good guy... I think Al's a good guy... and I'm sad this had to be aired in public, and also sad no amicable resolution was found.

Ah well.

Damn, Lock this shit down already.

Put the tin foil hat back on. We'll be fine.

This is why I rarely post here anymore, much less would ever join the Mfg's Forum - Lame.

Dion why why why....would you even say anything???????? You are completely unrelated to these, and as someone who both is a manufacturer and a retailer I would think you would steer as clear of this as a virgin would the docks on fleet week. You have absolutely nothing to gain by being involved and everything to lose.

Lest you all think I am bashing Dion I love his products and have even gone so far as connecting him with my local B&M to carry his product. So my comments are actually self-serving as I perish the thought I would have to give up Tatuaje and Illusiones in the same week..... :(

An ugly thread which does nothing but smear the reputation of some very passionate members of the cigar industry - wish I hadn't read it on CigarPass. :(

Yes, I knew who you were - damned fine cigars. I apologize for the slur, but I'm quite passionate about personal integrety. While I think some of your views are extreme, the hat comment was out of line. That said, I respectfully submit that, Pete is digging quite nicely for himself and doesn't need your help. If you prefer to participate where the mods and admin will protect you, so be it.
