Liar......

SlickNYC is Rick from D&S and he tried to lie his way out of that when he got caught

CHECK THIS THREAD ON CIGARSMOKERS

Oh and SlickNYC/D&S whatever, you are in violation of CigarPass policy by having multiple ID's so fess up now or get banned.

Personally I hope you try and lie so you get banned ;)

at the risk of bringing down the "wrath of the house" on me, I tend to agree with Slick. It sounds to me like he was voicing his opinion. To immediately jump in and slam his "taste" and his ratings of cigars you personally despise seems to smack of "rudeness" to me, as well.
It's sort of like asking someone what he thinks about a topic, and then arguing about it. If you ask someone's opinion, accept it graciously, even if you disagree.
I sorta thought that's what this part of the forum was all about... talking about cigars, and giving opinions?
If all this has become is "I smoked this 15 dollar cigar, and it really ROCKS" kind of a place, then what good is it? Most folks EXPECT the 15-20 dollar cigars to be good. It's finding the rare CHEAP good one.. the "sleepers" that makes this fun.
I happen to have a favorite daily cigar that is an 80 cent Nic. And it's pretty wonderful. (don't tell anyone it's a (gasp) MIXED FILLER) ;)

Now who is this guy??? Is this someone also related to DandS cigars, Rick, Slick, Nick, or whatever his name is???

Hmmmm...that says a lot about Rick's business practices. Shilling to promote his sh1tty cigars. :whistling:

Well, why aren't you posting about this???

The only person on CigarSmokers who actually LIKED this guy's crap was PuroBrat who's taste in cigars is second only to that of a dung beetle.

***EDIT*** Mrs. Crabtree doesn't know how to spell "beetle"

I had a feeling he was a plant. You can't say you prefer a dog rocket over other well known established brands. On another note....I don't know anything about purobrat, but I saw he's been posting on Club Stogie.

Me? related? Nope. I live in Texas, and have been smoking for only a couple of years. It just seemed to me that Slick was getting unfairly pounced on for voicing his opinion. Now, if he is really "shilling" his own smokes, then, go ahead, castigate away. I'll help.
I just hope nobody gets to the point that we can't try new stuff. I like to think there's a lot of good smokes out there that just haven't been "discovered" yet. Findin 'em is the trick.
I think you guys are better at smellin a rat than I am. I'll shut up now.

For members that have been around for a while, this is a no-brainer. For the newer members, this is not so obvious....

The reason most of us came to this board to begin with was because we wanted to learn from one another. There is nothing wrong with trying new stuff. You will find tons of threads on this board reviewing cigars, both old and new, cheap and expensive, popular and not so popular. Some of the best cheap "jewels" (little know cigar values) I've tried came from chatter on this and other boards, and interaction with other members.

This is a great lesson on why anyone (not just Hornetguy) should be careful about defending another member in a thread like this. The guys who called out Nick, Slick, Rick, whatever, had an inkling something was wrong. They've seen these guys come and go, and are pretty astute at protecting the community from this type of shenanigans. And this guy is going to have a difficult time selling his wares on just about any of the other cigar boards out there because the word will spread fast. But don't think for a minute that D & S may not try to "re-market" itself somewhere down the road. Hopefully the guy take the candid comments about his cigars, reflect on his action at this and other boards, and do it properly next time (no lying, no shill, no crap cigars!!!). But I'm sure he's sitting on a pretty significant inventory of crap cigars he's got to get rid of somehow...

Believe it or not, there are those who will take advantage of a board like this - both through shill sales and out and out rip offs. Be grateful to those who will not tolerate that...

Thanks, I needed that.

As for Cigarsnobs, as well as a few others, they are good boards, just not for me. I think that "Most" cigar forums are loaded with highly knowledgable folks, and a great place for new smokers to get info or FOGs to hang out and Impart what they know. I know a number of boards that have guys like Hugh Jorgan, CC, SamClemmons, GGeise (sp? sorry if I got it wrong), CigarSarge and so on. These guys are a wealth of information, and they have no hang ups giving it away to anyone that can use it. They are also some of the best guys to hang with. The only problem is, they don't like ME. But I caused that myself. They all tried to help me see the error of my ways but I went all defensive on them, then turned offensive. Any of them can tell you. I like that I can get a fresh start somewhere, but you know how hard it is to shed that unwanted weight when you get a little pudgy? Well, shedding a bad rep is harder. So I shall ride it out.

Not talking about any other board mind you, these guys were only pointing out that I am/was a Mooch so you guys, who don't know me, won't feel sorry for me and decide I need a few smokes. And they are right to do so. They are only doing what they think is best for this community, can't fault them for that.

The above is a quote from PuroBrat at Club Stogie... PuroBrat's Intro Thread at Club Stogie

This is CLASSIC PuroBrat. If a newb was reading this I would suspect they would say, "Awwwww.... Leave the poor guy alone - he's trying to make a new start..." For the older members who know Puro, this is "WTF!!! He's up to his old tricks again!!!" Especially if they knew he was being nasty and flaming others just prior to this post...

PuroMooch is who PuroMooch is... 'nuff said.

Exactly. I thought he was at least trying to be genuine at first. Not the first time I've been wrong - won't be the last.

You’re so right George, Purosomething was long history by the time I joined here but I had read a little about him, so the first thing I thought when I read that quote was “Wow, genuine repentance!” (I’m sure you’ll understand why when someone expresses repentance, I really, really, really want to believe them) but then I read what he said about you on CS when all you did was point out the obvious.

Everyday, I appreciate you guys more and more. It amazes me how quickly you guys spot these phonies!

hmmmmm....seemed to me from reading his post there that he felt really bad about things. JMHO...I don't know all of the history, but it seems as if he's not blaming anyone but himself.
