I have been spending a little time on cigarbid and I thought I would show off everything that I have won this past week. But before I do that do you think Cigarbid is a good place to buy cigars? I have got some pretty good prices and the cigars I have won seem to smoke great. There must be some risk involved. How do they get away with selling cigars so cheaply?

Anyway here are the first few cigars going into my humidor along with some other neat little things.
humidifier
crappy hygrometer
medium full taster
Black pequenos
Cuban sungrown fuente
Xikar lighter

I also won some acid cigars a couple weeks ago and I agree with most people. I Didn't hate them but I would rather smoke a regular cigar. I have a cheap spare desktop humidor that I have been storing them in, and I bought the humidifer and hygrometer for cigars like this that I may buy in the future.

Let me know how you think I did!

A little late to be asking that question, isn't it? I have never bought anything off of that sight, though I know a number of members do. There are enough quality BOTLs here at CP that also run or work at quality Brick and Mortar stores that what meager purchases I can muster, I send their way. Search out who those members are and they will treat you like they treat the rest of their customers, which is very, very well.

Id' throw that hygrometer in the garbage when it arrived. It's not going to do anything for you. ESPECIALLY considering all the humidor questions you have now. Head over to Rod's store, cigarswag.com, and pick up a hygro from there. Easy to calibrate and re-adjust.

Been there... Done that... You're going to need more humidors. :sign:

I try not to pay more than 50% of MSRP on CBID. It's a great place to find a deal (or debt). But, if I'm not mistaken, that Fuente beli SG you paid $9 for should be no more than $5 MSRP. ???

It is good when you are needing alot of cigars quick. The cigars range from low to boutique so you need to know what you are purchasing. When I was an amateur, I bought something because the price was high; they smokes like dollar bills. Research, watch and bid when you know there is a good deal.

Hi there mateo...I have to admit that I do use CigarBid from time to time. However, my experience si that you really need to know the value of the items you are bidding on. For items that tend to be more difficult to find like Opux X, Anejos, etc. you may be willing to pay a premium, but oftentimes, I find that items sell for more than they are worth - both at Cigars International or at a competitors online retail store. Don't get me wrong, there are some phenomenal deals on CigarBid, but those tend to be on the more run of the mill products and cigars (where they have higher profit margins anyway), the premium swag and cigars can sometimes go higher than you can find through other online venues. That is how they make their profits. So, just keep in mind "Buyer Beware." One other thing about CigarBid. It is the "Devil Site" in terms of people buying more than they need, but you have to keep in mind the shipping charges...it does not make sense to buy a single and pay the kind of freight they are going to charge you, so people sometimes end up buying more than they need.

Looking at your purchases...

For the humidifier, you paid a little less than CI charges normally; however, if you look around, previous buyers often recommend beads instead. Next time you might want to think about getting a Puck Humidifier. In my experience beads have worked the best in terms of passive humidification.

I would have to agree with tomthirysix that you can go ahead and chuck the hygrometer. For anything worth a damn you will need a digital hygrometer, and preferably one that is adjustable. Hygrometers of this type are made by several manufacturers and can even be found on CigarBid.

On the Medium Full Taster pack, I definitely think you got a good deal. You paid a good price for those sticks, assuming those were all sticks you wanted to try.

On the Cohiba Black Pequenos you paid a bit more than you would have if you just bought the tin directly from CI's retail site. They charge $11.95 for a tin of 6 as they are currently on sale, you paid $13. Often times it helps to check the prices against CI's webiste as almost everything sold on CigarBid is sold on their regular website.

On the Cuban Sun Grown Fuente Belicoso I noticed you paid $9. You can pick up a single on CigarFox for $6.50. However, on CigarFox, I think the minimum order is 5 sticks; however, their prices are generally reasonable, they have a great selection, and you can mix and match any variety you desire. They cigars they ship are also packaged better than at CigarBid and are sent boxed, covered with a cedar sheet, any additionally needed padding and with a humidity packet to keep them fresh.

It does look like you saved a few bucks on the Xikar Eris lighter if you look at most sites, but you could have gotten the same lighter for under $60 using the "Buy It Now" feature on eBay.

Now granted, ordering from multiple sites incurs additional shipping charges. I guess you need to work that out for yourself according to what you want and need. I would just say that you should search around before you enter that bid on CigarBid, especially if you were outbid by someone else...and do a little research on the internet looking at reviews of items you may be interested in purchasing first.

In regards to how well you did on your purchase...while I think you could have done better in terms or prices paid on some items and the quality of other itmes you purchased, all in all, I think that you made out all right given the amount you saved on the Medium Full Sampler - but you could have probably done better with a little more legwork.

I completely agree. If there is something that you want on CI, it's best to wait and see if it will pop up one day. I have scored some great deals on that website. Just watch out for shipping because they will ship on schedule.

Everyone here is right. I turned away from Cbid for awhile because it seemed I couldn't get any good deals but here recently I have gotten some specific sticks at really good prices.

The OP has been banned already....just an FYI.

A store that I used to go to on occasion had a "scratch & dent" humidor and I have gotten some freakin' killer stogies out of it cheeeeeep. Just can't identify them for future purposes. I haven't been there in several years, but since I just moved back to the area.....it is getting to the top of the "to do list."

Since their new return policy of waiting 7 to 10 days AFTER receiving a returned item before even considering a return, I refuse to buy from them anymore.

They have too many quality control problems to have such a terrible return policy.

Vortex are you sure?

I just read it and it does not mention what you are refering to.

10) Returns Policy
Where applicable, every product we sell is backed by a returns policy. If you have questions about particular products, please contact customerservice@cigarbid.com before bidding on merchandise. Most, but not all, products are covered by the following returns policy.

Within 10 days of shipment, CigarBid.com offers return privileges and refunds for shortages, missing, damaged or defective items only. All other sales are final. Should a return be necessary, please note the following:

You must have an assigned Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number before the merchandise can be returned. No unauthorized returns will be accepted.
All returns must be in original condition, complete with any accessories and in original unopened packaging.
CigarBid.com will refund your credit card after the product has been received, inspected and tested. If the product is not found to be defective upon inspection, we will charge a 15% restocking fee, plus shipping costs.
CigarBid.com may elect, at its discretion, to replace defective merchandise in lieu of a refund.
CigarBid.com cannot supply return freight instructions for merchandise shipped to a foreign APO/FPO address. While we will issue an RMA number, all return freight charges are the responsibility of the buyer.

Jessica in customer service told me it's a week to ten days after they receive a return before they review it. Of course, this is their policy and the reality is it rarely takes even a week. But they do take much longer than anywhere else in my expereince. Most places will have a replacement out in no more than a day.

But the main issue for me is the hassle of dealing with a big corporation. It's interesting that some consider their customer service to be excellent. I find them mostly friendly and they don't hassle you about a return. But that's is but a snall part of customer service. At a smaller company, on the other hand, I can usually talk to someone familiar with cigars in general and their stock in particular. To me, customer service is where the rep helps me get what I want.
