    CAO Gold Maduro Robusto

Well, truth be told, today was a really shitty day in the life of Jaster. So I decided to end it on a high note. I pulled out a CAO Gold Maduro, which was generously gifted to me by xerais about a month ago, pulled on my jacket, whistled for my dog Mandy, and stepped outside to relax and enjoy...

Wow! A lot of bombings going on lately!

This place is awesome. Might be second nature to a lot of the seasoned vets around here, but to a n00b like me, it's just really cool to see all this going on. Bravo!

Man O' War Rubusto (My First Review)

This is my first review on CP, so be gentle. :) I received this in CI's Cigar of the Month package four months back, so it had four months worth of aging in the humidor. The wrapper was gorgeous, slightly oily and dark. Great construction, no noticeable flaws. Light-up Pre-light draw was...

    Noob-on-Noob Go-To Stick Giveaway w/ old-school video game twist

Just starting out? Me too! Try some of my faves! To pay it forward after xerais generously decided to send me a care package (http://www.cigarpass.com/forumsipb/index.php?showtopic=50248), I'm holding a little contest to give away a small 5-pack sampler of some of my "Go-To" sticks. This is...

Are Opus X's REALLY that good?

I'll probably get flamed for this, but so be it. I've been smoking cigars in earnest since February of this year. So I'm still green, but I feel comfortable saying I've begun to develop my palate, and getting the hang of tasting the nuances, figuring out what I like and what I don't like...

Friend brought back a couple of sticks from the Dom. Republic (pics)

My friend went to the DR for a week, and brought these back for me (it should be mentioned she knows nothing about cigars, so I can't make a judgment on how/where she got them). They're both pretty dry as she just put them in her suitcase. Some flaking of the wrapper going on, as you can see...

Recommend a good sampler for a noob like me

I just got into cigars in the last couple of months or so, and I've tried a few different kinds trying to figure out what I like (5ers off of cigarbid usually, though my budget for this limits me quite a bit). So far, I've really enjoyed the 5 Vegas Series A's, and RP Vintage 1992's, and a few...

Got a "Top 10 Cigar Tips" email

I won't say where the email is from, but I received it a few days ago. Maybe I'm wrong, but some of the "tips" they offer sound... well, a little questionable... Any thoughts? Some of them make sense. But jamming a coat hanger through the cigar?! ???

Humidor's temp is usually in the low-mid 70's -- that OK?

I still just have my starter humi (a little 35-cap job). I keep the house around 74, so that's the temp it's usually at (confirmed by the hygro). I know the gold standard is 70; how will 74 affect the sticks, if at all? The humidity hovers around 68-69%. Thanks

Why it's fun to be a cigar n00b

Because I still get excited when I get shipments like this: Why I got these: - I keep hearing that RP Vintage 1992's are great - I enjoyed the 5 Vegas Gold and I LOVE the Series 'A's, so I thought I'd try something in between - A friend recommended H. Upmann, and these were really cheap :) (I...

Humidor humidity too low -- noobie help

This is my current (first) humidor, bought from cheaphumidors.com -- see pic below. I currently have about 8 or 9 more cigars in there than that picture shows. That humidifier jar should (according to what it says) regulate the humidity at 70%. Unfortunately, the humidity is showing in the...

    My first humidor

Well, here she is. $20 job from cheaphumidors, with my first batch of cigars, recommended to me by some people in a car forum I'm on. That's a little jar of 70% beads I got from a local shop. I just ordered a Caliber III tonight from Dave @ Southside who was very helpful. I've done a lot...
