128oz of Coca-Cola in a 7-Eleven team gulp :p New Yorkers

Oh sh*t, I listed sources didn't I?

Been hitting my bottled of '11 Templeton Rye pretty often since I just picked up my '12 bottle.

You only allow yourself one bottle per year, or has it worked out that you can only find one per year?

I certainly thought the '74 had more iodine then the CS or current 10yo. Lots of folks think the peat was better back then and imparted a heavier flavor but even this seems to be a bit different then the '68 10yo I had a few years ago that one had some evaporation so you know it affected the taste.

I don't believe the story. The first regularly sold Single Malt in the US was The Glenlivet starting in late 1947, well after prohibition, All the scotch you could get here prior to that were blends.

I can not vouge for the accuracy but, I have read more than once that it was available. I found this blurb about prohibition on a website dedicated to the Islays.

The Whisky
Laphroaig's peat bogs on the Glenmachrie Peat Moss and its water source, the Kilbride Dam, combine in the distilling process to produce the characteristically peaty and full-coloured whisky that features in the top five best-selling malts today.

Its unique taste saw it prosper in America during the Prohibition (1920-1933) where its import was permitted as a 'medicinal spirit' - aqua vitae indeed!

Who knows. It certainly is a good story though.

Going to finish the last couple drams in the latest bottle of Benriach Dark Rum Cask 15 tonight. Damn, that's some good Scotch.

I've always been a little frustrated by these cask strength bottles. Without cutting it with water I don't taste a whole lot other than the burn, which seemed quite intense on this one. I wasted the better part of a 2 oz pour before finally getting the water to what seemed to be a drinkable level. Once I reached that point it was quite enjoyable which made me happy considering I'm not a huge fan of Dalwhinnie 15.

I marvel at you guys that can sip this neat and pick up on the subtle complexities. I'm no where near your league once they get to 95-100% and above. I plan to share this with some friends in mid July so I know more how I feel about this one then.

I will say this at + $300.00 I would have been let down but for the deal we received it's hard to complain.

I liked that stuff so much I bought a 2nd bottle.

Finally opened my bottle of Dalwhinnie 29 to celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary.

Been waiting for the KC Rye to hit my area. You should do a review.

Knob Creek 100 proof Rye. Patiently aged. Whatever the hell that means. Not bad. Much more complex in taste than other ryes I've had.

In my review thread some thought the alcohol was up front and others didn't. I found it quite enjoyable neat which isn't always the case at 116 proof.

After reading that review I think a t-shirt that says "I want to herf with ray" is in order.

I don't think I had had a real drink in close to 2 weeks so that may have been a factor. I notice by the end of my mini vacations I enjoy the cask strength stuff more than at the start so there must be some correlation.
