Finally broke down and bought the engagement ring today. The gf has been begging for it for about a year now. It's time. Got it from a local jewelry store in the mall here. Here's a link to a pic of it they dont have very good pics though they are out of focus the pic doesn't do it justice. Im planning on popping the big Q at the end of july while we are on vacation with my family for my family reunion. Wish me luck!

That's great man congrats! Greatest move of my life, until the baby was born.

Good for you, brother! I, too, plan to be doing the exact same thing by the end of the year!

Save your money and buy fake diamonds, she will never know!! :D

Just kidding, everyone who has ever been in love has done it.. Congrats!!! :p

Congrats. If you are anything like me you want to give that ring to a friend of family member for safe keeping. I got the ring and ended up purposing the next time I saw her because I couldn't wait anymore. Staring at it on the coffee table everyday was just too much.

Best of luck. Enjoy the ride. It is a fabulous thing.

X2 on that sentiment!

Have you thought about what you may want to say? I wrote a letter for her to read (part of the surprise for her) and it's a good thing I did, because when I came out with the ring I had enough trouble getting "Will you marry me?" out.

Congrats on your pending engagement. Definitely plan it out ahead of time in terms of what you want to say. It seems that women really cherish the moment and want to remember it for a lifetime. It's something they've been fantasizing about pretty much their entire life. Make it as romantic and special as possible. Good luck.

Congrats! And yes the stress is just beginning, the wedding planning period will be...um an adventure. :)

YES!

Congratulations, and good luck! The ring is absolutely beautiful.

">I poped the question 2 years ago July 5. I am very happy I did cause now I have a kid on the way. I threw a BBq and did it like this

Ps congrats now you have someone to tell you that Churchills just take to long to smoke

Very nice ring, congratulations! Now just learn these two little but powerful words: "Yes, dear." :whistling: And when she wants a new kitchen, don't argue, it'll get you a man cave!

Excellent! Be sure to plan a little something out, all of her friends will ask her how you proposed

I proposed on April 1s (haha!). I had written out three notes for her to open throughout the day with instructions on what to do next, the first of which her mom placed on her pillow for when she woke up. I packed a lunch of sandwiches on french bread, cheese, fruit, and wine, picked my girlfriend up and took her to our favorite beach picnic spot in Kapalua. I picked her up in a limo, so she thought that it was the day I would propose. After lunch, I had arranged for her to have a little spa day at one of the nicest spas on the island, and then I took her out to dinner. We had a romantic evening, and left the restaurant at about 8:45. On the way home, I asked if she wanted to watch a movie, to which she disappointingly said yes (falling into my plan perfectly, haha). I told her I needed to stop by my house to change, and as we walked through the front gate our family and friends hit the music I had prepared (Michael Buble's "Me and Mrs. You), and she saw all of the flowers, candles, and floating candles in the pool and was completely surprised. Our family and friends were in the house watching (her best friend taking pictures in the yard, out of sight), as I danced her down the steps, over to the table and waiting ring, and proposed. Afterward, everyone burst out of the house with champagne and we had a little celebration. I can't believe it all went so well.

It may have been a bit much, but it was fun! Enjoy the moment, it goes by pretty fast.

Congrats on getting up the courage to not only buy the ring, but ask the question.

I'm 28 and it's taken me this long to feel comfortable asking the question. :whistling:

thanks for all the well wishes and ideas everyone! I just turned 28 as well emoshun.

I haven't quite figured out how im going to pop the question yet theres a number of different ways i can. However she doesn't want anything big or too public as she gets embarrased easily. She has no clue its coming but int he past she has hinted to it many times and just said she doesn't want me to do anything public or big, which is tough cause i usually like to do things like that.

Im planning on asking her the end of this month when we are with my family for my family reunion. I was thinking maybe i would have my little 4 year old niece draw a picture of of my on my knee with the ring and her. Then have my niece give her the picture and ill sneak up behind her and get down on one knee and have the ring out when she turns around. and then maybe have my niece ask her. You guys think that would be cute? she loves my little niece and my niece loves her so i thought it might be cute.

still trying to come up with some other possibilities though.

A mans job is never done until he's married.................then he's finished :D Just kidding, congratulations. Beautiful ring choice.

That is a fantastic idea. Don't have your niece ask her, but have her draw the picture and give it to your soon-to-be fiance. Just make sure she doesn't see you behind her until it's time, that could be tricky. Good idea, I would go with it.

Celebrated our 2nd anniversary today. Wait til the "are you ready to start a family" talk comes.
