The CP Herf is now offically set for June 5, 2004. In order to make this event successful, we need to get an estimate as to how many of you plan on coming.

Please only post if you are 99.99% sure you will attend. Please do not post if you are not coming. We simply need a estimated head count.

Only 1 other person is coming? I thought we had alot more interest than this...

I didn't see this thread until you topped it. I will be in attendance. :)

Rod,

Confirmed with the wife the other day we are 99% sure we will be in Vegas for the herf. Looking forward to it.

Any additional details on what we are going to use as a base hotel?

Ben

P.S. Anyone else planning on bringing their significant other?

I'm thinking The Mirage (www.themirage.com). It's a nice hotel, tropical atmosphere. Stayed there several times, one of the better places of Vegas.

Where do you guys want the main herf to be? At a suite in a nice hotel? At a lounge? Throw some ideas out so we can start making solid plans.

Thanks.

I recommend that we herf in a lounge or a restaurant/lounge. I have never been to Vegas before and I would rather not spend an evening in a suite, even a really nice suite, when so much is going on downstairs. :)

If you all really like the suite idea, however, I can be easily persuaded.

Take care,

Will

Rod,

You said you are 3 1/2 hours out of Vegas. So am I. I am in SoCal. Where are you?

I'm in. It sounds like fun.

As for you stickmen.........I'm in too! Right along with planning the actual HERF, we would need to line up a course and some tee times. It's going to be HOT that weekend. Early morning tee times will evaporate as fast as the beverages!

Let me know what I might be able to do to help.

I looked on this site

www.teetimesinlasvegas.com

Vegas has about 50 area courses ranging from $50 - $300 per golfer. Each has a basic dress code of no jeans, no cut off shorts, collared shirts, and shoes with soft spikes.

Please......all you golfers....look at this site and decide how much you want to spend for a tee time and a list of 3 courses. If we can get block of times then maybe we can book soon. I believe it is pay when we show up, but I'll look into it a little further.

I'm taking the lead on the golf part, so I hope I'm not stepping on some toes. Rod get in touch with me and let me know if all is good.

If you are gong AND plan to swing the sticks with the rest of us PM me and I'll reply back with an attached spread sheet (updated as reasonably possible) with fees and rankings. I figure we should have a set block of tee times by April 20, 2004. Maybe as late as May 1, 2004 (but i wouldn't wait this long to confirm).

I think I'm going to start a thread to draw more attention so we can get this show on the road.

Rod,

Have we decided where we are all going to stay. Anyone with hotel connections, are we large enough group to get a block of rooms?

We're ready to book the dates but want to stay with everyone else is staying.

As far as the herf goes well I am pretty open. We could do a lounge thing so we're down on the floor maybe there is a private room the hotel could provide for so many rooms we book?

LMK my travel agent is itchin to make the reservation ;) :D

I think I'm gong to stay in my timeshare. The wife is going to stay home with the kids. I'll probably book 3 nights (TH, F, SAT) and drive home SUN Afternoon.

Wherever you guys dicide to stay there are plenty of places to smoke, we just have to book something.

Rod wanted to know if I or anyone else would take the point on this thing. I stepped up for the golf portion (me being new, this is all I was comfortable with). I also ran a list of tobacconists in Las Vegas. Any one willing to step up, I'll PM you the list so you might make some calls.

Or - If someone steps up and needs a 'little' help, I'd be willing to call the tobacconists and see if they would be willing to help out some too! But, I'm not comfortable with doing the whole thing. Just let me know what I might be able to do to make this thing happen.

Just doing my part,

M. Gipson :)

Planning this event is not something I can do alone. I have not recieved much help in the planning, so I think it's best if the participating group as a whole plans this event. If you guys want to meet in a cigar lounge saturday night, that sounds great.

Mirage sounds good!! I actually met Steve Wynn once here in Connecticut. He was testifying before the Legislature when we were thinking of building a casino in Bridgeport in the mid 1990's

He's a great guy

Hey guys, I live here in Vegas, just some ideas to help you out. Golf rates drop when it gets warm out here. If you have some ideas on where to play, let me know and I can give you the scoop on them. Some of the good courses that I've played are Silverstone, Angel Park, Badlands, and the TPC Summerlin. Some of the inexpensive courses that I've played are Las Vegas Muni and Craig Ranch. Hard to get on the Muni course. I haven't played Durango Hills yet, but it does look inviting. I would try Silverstone, although it's quite a ways from the strip, they treat you really well. For Cigar retailers, look at Havana Cigar, it's on Paradise, not too far from the strip and was just voted "Best in Vegas" by the newspaper here. For other "best of"s check out http://www.reviewjournal.com/bestoflv/. As for locations for the herf, The Palms is the current hot spot. Always good scenery there, and, the Hard Rock is still okay.

I dont think I can play golf in 110 degree weather, but i am coming the last weekend in April for an ASC event...anyone know about this?

If we can decide on where to stay and how many we'll be having, I can look into possible group rates.

I get comped at Caesars. Besides having a bad cigar habit, I am also a degenerate gambler.

I get comped at the RIO, they have good rooms and a lot of lounges. Of course the Palms now has clothing optional swimming pool night...... I'd hate to drop an ash in my lap....
