I have only been bow hunting seriously for a year now. So, my experience is just that, NIL! However, I have found it to be extremely frustrating. You look at all of the signs in the woods, set up your tree stand and wait. BAM!! Tons of does roll in. You think a buck should be right behind 'em. NOT!! Then, if by the grace of God he is, he stays behind a thicket so there isn't a shot. Then he casually strolls back into cover. Never to be seen again.

Then today, nothing for 4 1/2 hours, then a buck(damn nice one at that) strolls just into sight(30 yards), but not out of the brush, takes a look around and then leaves. $H!T!!! I'm gonna ambush him next time. He's come in through the same area both times I've seen him, so next time, he's mine!(yea right, hopefully!)

Anyone else hunt here? I know Kenny does. Do y'all share my frustration?! I'm not a trophy hunter however, if I'm gonna shoot it with a bow and have to track it, I'm gonna make it worth my while.

Just curious.

I feel for you Floyd, try hobblin' your cripple ass around the desert for hours trying to sneak up on Antelope or Muleys! Has not produced much for me either. :( As frustrating as it can be, THERE IS NOTHING LIKE IT! ;)

You wait til he steps out of the thicket...

You have a clear shot...

Draw back, bead on, clean release...

WHERE THE HELL DID THAT ONE TINY LITTLE BRANCH COME FROM!!!!!

Oh Hell, there's always next season.

Been there, done that. ;)
Just how does an animal that big, hide behind a sapling? :sign:

No crap, either that or he jumps the line because you released a little too loud.

For what it's worth, here in Alabama the bucks worth shooting at like to hang out in cover until about 10 minutes before dark. The only deer I've ever shot around here come out just about the time you'd get busted by the cops for shootin at em! Don't know about your locale, but here our winters have been so mild these past few years that it never gets cold enough to get a full blown porno style rut goin on! The smarter, bigger bucks will only come out at night, or just before dark. Maybe you should set up later in the day

I've been a time or two, but I don't eat enough venison to need any more tags than I can get with a rifle. I never did get in range to make a comfortable shot.

I shoot does almost exclusively anyway, but I hunt for the meat and doe meat is more tender, IMO. Plus here in Missouri we have a bit of a deer overpopulation, so every doe you bust helps.

That's exactly why he was a damn nice buck. The big ones get big for a reason! ;)

I've been hunting deer all my life. If I sit in a stand for eight hours and see nothing, it was a good hunt. If I sit in a stand for eight hours and make a kill, it was a great hunt.

I don't get fraustrated about hunting. That's why I do it!!!

Haven't hunted for 15 years, mostly because it's just too easy. :p Well where I used to hunt anyway. Now I'm just too old and fat to get in the woods. Having done the shotgun, rifle, pistol, and bow thing over the years the bow is the hardest to hunt with. You just have to get so dang close, then everything has to work right. If it was easy to kill them with a bow everyone would do it right? Keep at it, work on your skills and eventually a nice buck will reward your efforts.

So long as you arent using night goggles and a semi-automatic... I feel your pain. :)

Try bowfishing, now that's tough, or hitting dove with an arrow, ever seen guys do that, it's amazing, I remember seeing some guy shoot a quarter he flipped in the air.

I've never gone hunting, but my grandfather has been hunting, the old fashion way, for as long as I remember. I understand how he feels when these young guys go hunting, using walkie talkies and other modern equipment. He has always been very old fashioned in every way. Then again, times change, so I guess hunting has to change too.

Floyd..... you really need to hand the bow over to your wife. I know who the real hunter is in your family! :p :D ROFLMAO!

I haven't deer hunted in 5 or 6 years. When I did it was with something that could reach out and touch them. I never shot at anything over 300 yards and only once wounded a deer that I never found. :( I was able to hit paper at 300+ but never consistent enough to attempt a shot at live game. Thank god I never was tempted by a monster at that range.

I feel your pain Floyd but hunting is a lot like golf.....the frustrations are many but there's no feeling like the reward.

You really need to get your arse over here so I can put you on some ducks. You have a open invitation anytime bro.

I gave up deer hunting several years ago. I still squirrel hunt and fish. I'm gonnna try to hunt wild pig with a handgun next year. :D

All you guys with your weapons. Real hunting is chasing down the prey and killing them with your bare hands. Or, here in Illinois it's running out at night and pushing over a cow. Now THAT'S hunting!! :sign:

Ha, here in Texas we consider it hunting game to shoot cowtippers with 20 guage loaded with rocksalt, not a good feeling. Cowtipping is a good way to kill some cows, espesially if they're about to calve. Hunting is fun in west Texas, sit on the tailgate with a cooler and take out some prairie dogs, or monster South Texas whitetail. :)

Nah... I only tip the bulls... so no worries...

ROFLMAO @ Kenny! You got me, Brother! :sign: I offered to buy her a bow and she declined. The new BAR 270 I got her two years ago has gotten some work, though. ;)

One of these days I'm gonna take you up on your offer. I ain't ever hunted ducks before so I'm sure it would be a freakin' show!

Take care. I'll keep y'all posted!

I think the only legal way to hunt cows, is with a ballpeen hammer.

You'd still have your limit in no time at all. :sign:
