IPad - WTF?

With my recent upgrade to Windows 7 (64 bit) I can almost forgive Microsoft for their previous OS's. While you Maclodytes wait on the 27" screen my wife has been using a 28" for over a year now. She got the big computer screen and I had to make do with a 32" LCD in the study. Fair trade so far.

Well, the difference, of course, is that the screen IS the computer. The whole thing. Sleek and slick.

You can get as ginormous a monitor as your heart desires if you get one of the Apple towers, but geeeez . . . I'm only sitting two feet away!

I just want the bigger screen because I've been doing a lot of Hulu and Netflix watching on mine. Plus the porn will be almost life sized! ;)

So what you're saying is those of us that did our homework, read all the reviews, and did our due diligence online can't fairly judge this because we didn't drop $500 on one, even though you've pretty much confirmed what most of us were saying?

Nah, if you went in there and took some time with a floor model and passed on it, then you've pretty much made a good decision. That's what you did right?

As I said, it's half useless without the pricey 3G feature anyway.

Someone brought one into the office today, it is pretty cool....

"Choire Sicha says that the iPad spurns creative people, but it seems more appropriate to say that it resists 'power users,' people who like to customize their machines to do things better, faster, and more productively. The iPad resists customization; there is only one way to do most things on this device—Apple's way."

Slate iPad Article

I think this article is a balanced evaluation of the iPad. I don't have one, so I can't be 100% sure, but it seems evenhanded.

That can be said of all apple products.

I'm not a Windows hater, but I do own Mac products, just because I got tired of the inadequate and failing operating systems that come with every Microsoft product.

As for the Ipad? I see it's functionality, and it obviously has a demand, based on the hype/sales. I personally haven't seen enough yet to warrant buying one, but I can certainly understand its function.

I'll look at getting one after they add a few more options and fix a few bugs. As of right now, it's not worth it to me.

I heard the news this morning and there was a teen who purchased one. As soon he took it out of the box in front of his friends, he took a bat to it. I dont agree pissing away 500, but I would not stop him. AHFL. just another POS
