Does anyone here use Limewire for file sharing? I have been using the free edition for some time now with pretty decent sucess. I down load all sorts of different stuff. I mostly stick with music, but sometimes I will download docs, progs, and vids. You gotta be careful and scann everythiong you download for viruses. Well, I am considering buying the Pro version. I use this app everytime I am at home, so I figure buying it will help them out. So long story short, does the Pro version allow you to make a favorite's file? I would love a feature that allows me to save certain IP's addies for certain file types. And also a function that lets me keep certain host as favorite for my connections. So does anyone own the pro version? If so, what are the advantages of owning it?

Are you on broadband or dial up? Also, the older versions allowed you to determine the amount of servers you could connect to. Too few limits your scope of view, too many and you are using up valuable bandwidth.

i have cable. i think i had the newest version when i tried it.

i dont know, it just seemed kind of slow. im really picky about filesharing programs though.

just because it works well for me. it connects to gnutella and edonkey plus i can use it to download torrents.

Where can one find Sharaze? I'd like to download torrent files, but my cable provider limits bandwidth on the upstream, and when I'm sending out anything, the downstream falls to its knee's... its pathetic.

Is there a way to download only from torrents?

-->KazaaLite<--
I live by that program.

Make sure it's the LITE version - no spyware or adware

i used to have kazaa lite but got rid of it because most of the songs i was getting had that screeching in them...plus i have seen most of the big porn videos on it :D

I have been very happy with the free version of Limewire for a long time now. I'm not a heavy user though, just ocasional mp3's, so I wouldn't really be a good judge of things. I am happy though.

WOW, you guys lost me after the first couple of posts.

Can any of you geeks explain to an idiot like me just WTF you're talking about?

no cc, just plain no.

okay, fine. but you owe me. :D

these are programs that you obtain to connect to servers where you can find.... questionable material. questionable in the sense of legality. in my opinion i feel it's legal as long as you don't sell the crap.

crap= music, video, games and programs (sometimes), and pictures.

most people are in it for the music and video.

JonB is in it for the porn.

haha i download music too :p

coventrycat, these programs are basically like a virtual black market for digital media. of course people dont talk about them that way because then they would seem more illegal than they really are.

yea, sure you do...

PERVERTED MUSIC!

like ones with the girls going at it, so you can imagine what they look like in your head. i bet you make a cd ofthe stuff, put it in your cd player, and take a nice long walk or bus ride, and imagine the hot girls doing what ever you're hearing.

ahem, i have way too much time on my hands to be thinking of ideas such as this.
