Did anybody see the T.O.- Sheridan thing that started off Monday Night Football?

I've seen replays a few times and I still don't see the big deal. It's not like it was porn or anything.

Now I see Tony Dungy saying that is was a racist matter. Are you kidding? Thats a little sensitive in my opinion.

Thoughts?

I thought it was hot -- but I could see families not wanting their kids to see if, if that's their thing. Not normal fare for prime time.

I HATE reality tv! I haven't seen desperate housewives so I can't speak on that show but if it's all about cheatin' housewives, then it shouldn't be on tv! As for the naked woman in the locker room, well, prolly not the best idea for a tv show promo. Heck what would the womens rights folks of said had the roles been reversed?!

I don't think it was all "that" which the NFL is makin' it out to be. I just think it was in poor taste. Freakin' tramp!!!

1. I didn't EVEN recognize Nicolette...I used to put her up in the top 3 hotties..back in her prime

2. I had no clue that it was a promo for a the housewives show

3. It doesn't belong on the opening of MNF.

I was outraged that they used Nicolette Sheridan and not Eva Longoria. :p

I don't see what the fuss is about. It's at was pre-show gimmick for FOOTBALL... a violent sport and "bad influence" in its own right.

But whatever. A few angry pissants cause a ****storm and everyone feels its fury. Gee, what else is new?

Next story please.

I have to agree with phishy also... Eva is one hot tamale! I think I'll add her to my wish wish list for Secret Santa!

I also agree with Phisy...not a big deal. 9:00 PM, people. Relax. If your kids cannot handle it, put them in bed before that....

It is NOT a reality show.

I read an article today saying what they showed was no worse than the nfl's cheerleaders that they gladly shove down our throats. Not that I'm complaining.

I think that we need a mandatory replay of the segment.......fifty-four times in order for us to see how truly disgusting and objectifying of women it truly was!. :) :D :p ;)

Naked people shouldn't be seen by anyone until the age of 21. They need to surgically sew blinders on everyone.

What do these wackos do when they go to Europe where people aren't born with a pole up their A$$.

Tony Dungy (Head Coach - Indianapolis Colts) made the point that Terrell Owens is Black and the woman was white. Thus the stereotype remark about black athletes (in the wake of the Kobe Bryant rape allegations). I understand what Coach Dungy is talking about. Black America is still fightiing off stereotyping, and this did not help in any way.

Yes, if you take it at face value there is no harm. A beautiful woman jumping into the arms of a physically fit 'A' male. No issues. But, when you throw in the racial makeup, the natural divide that exists between Black and White America, the Kobe incident, Owens need to satisfy his overzealous Id (through publicity and photo ops), and you have the potential for hurt feelings and outright disgust.

I've never seen the 'housewives' show. And I watch MNF when there is a team I want to see. But, the combination of the two, in my opinion, was not very well thought out. I'm not a fan of network promos to start with. Commercials and dead spot plugs are just fine, it's their dime. But don't use the athletes or the commentators, people turn on the tube to see them play, not act.

Yes, it creates a buzz. And any pub is good pub. But, when the issues go this deep within certain segments of out population, better judgement should be exercised.

As always, just my opinion.

I guess I just don't see things like some people do. When I saw that I saw TO and Nicolette, not a black guy and a blonde.

I agree. I just saw an athlete and a (hot) chick. Color is only an issue if you go out of your way and make it an issue. When I heard the comment from Tony Dungy, I was surprised... but not, at the same time. Some people took the bit for what it was at face value. Some just want to take it that extra step and drag it through the mud.

gawntrail, while I agree with your point that natural divisions exist, isn't it counterproductive to the greater cause to always make race an issue when it doesn't have to be?

With all this talk about race, I started thinking about what "racial combinations" would've worked better. Between the Cowboys and the Eagles, I don't think there's a single white superstar. You have McNabb, Owens, Keyshawn (sort of), Roy Williams, etc... I think the bit would've been truly offensive if it had been Vinny Testeverde and Nicolette Sheridan. :p

Tony Dungy is one of the most respected coaches in the NFL. He is a soft spoken advocate for more black coaches in the NFL. The league is dominated by black athletes, yet there are few black head coaches. Yes, it is an issue. Although, some may not see it or even appreciate it, it is still an issue.

As far as:"...isn't it counterproductive to the greater cause to always make race an issue when it doesn't have to be?"

Through my eyes, I find it very counterproductive to always make race an issue. But, I'm white. And I've never had to walk in a black man's shoes. I don't know what it is like to be a black man in today's society, let alone an NFL Head Coach that happens to be black. So I don't really know what might be damning and what isn't.

But, I do know this. I coach lots of black teens, and listening to them their view of society is VERY different than mine. I also coach with black men. And their views of society are VERY different than mine. We have talks about this and I am blown away at how different we see things. Not that one is right or wrong, just how different it is being white compared to being black.

Obviously an issue (racial difference) that is still not resolved, and will continue to be debated until it is resolved.

My take, according to how I see and understand it.

I don't understand. It would have been less of an issue if she had jumped into the arms of a white man? Should the black and white players have seperate locker rooms too? How can Dungy make a racial issue out of this?

Here's my opinion on the whole incident. The whole country needs to chill the F* out. What's the big deal?
