My wife and I are going to the Canary Islands next month for our anniversary, and of course I want to know if there are any LCdH stores or other reputable places. I am interested in trying some of the local selections if they are still available (search is your friend  ) Linky. Also, if there are some places of interest that can't be missed, I'd love to hear about them. Thanks in advance!

I havn't been there in over 20 years. Great spot....take a trip to Madagascar if possible.
As far as cigars - dunno - I didn't smoke cigars back then....some great morrocan....ummmm, moving on.

I remember a lot of British tourists....and the cable car to the top of the mountain.

Have a great time!

Been a few years since I've been over there, but I've been a few times and it's absolutely gorgeous. Congrats on the anni and the trip there brother!

As for sticks there...they are all over the place. There's actually some local producers/tobacconists and, depending on which island you are on, there's not a shortage of cigar shops/ISOMs. Just, as always and with everywhere, be cautious of the fakes. They are everywhere too.

Great food there, great scenery...all the islands are beautiful. Gran Canaria is awesome, as is Tenerife (that's where you need to take the cable car up to the summit and, once on that island, you should also check out Barranco del Infierno). Lots to do, things to do/see, etc. On Gran Canaria, there's a shopping center that's kind of upscale called Sotaventa or something like that. You'll find some nice dining there, as well as some cigar shops and other shopping. On Tenerife, there's a few major shopping spots where you'll find some decent sticks...probably around Playa de Las Americas and also Los Cristianos. Of course, Santa Cruz is the capital of Tenerife, so there's tons of places there. It's definitely the biggest city on that island. The Plaza de Candelaria on Tenerife is a good, duty-free, place to get whatever it is you may be after.

One of my neighbors is a pretty famous/well-known salsa singer. He goes to the Canary Islands about three to four times per year. I'll check and see if he's around and, if so, I'll ask him what more he can offer. If I get any further info, I'll post it here or shoot you a PM.

p.s. -

Also, Grateful is correct...if you can, try to hit Morroco. It's so close by, and well worth it. And you'll find a great deal of Brit and German tourists there...nice mix of people and locals really...very hospitable.

Enjoy your trip brother!!

I appreciate the input! We're staying on Gran Canaria, and plan on visiting Tenerife as well as taking a day trip to Morrocco. We're looking forward to the great food, and people. My wife is Spanish so I have a great love of Latin women!!!
