Well I was a cornhusker for a long time, from what I remember there ain't a lot of diff.
Don't feel bad, just say no. I find myself bringing my own beer and cigars to almost every party I go to.
Very well put sir. I would have to say I lean toward this philosophy as well.I guess I stand alone here...when offered a cigar from someone else, I usually accept no matter what it is. Having smoked cigars for so many years and smoking a ton of crap along the way....what's one more? The fact is, having someone offer me one of their own and them knowing I smoke cigars, just makes them feel good when their offer is accepted. In the end, we're both fellow cigar smokers and should enjoy the pleasures of smoking a stick together....that's the important point.
If we all promote "smoke what you like & like what you smoke", in my mind I wouldn't feel right refusing their kind offer. Plus, once we both sit down to enjoy their gift, it gives me the opportunity to discuss with them what I usually smoke and guage to see if they are ready to take the next step in cigar smoking. If the discussion goes well and they express further interest, more times then not, we'll spark up one of mine as the next cigar and then I'll send them home with a few cigars out of my travel humidor to sample at their own pace.
I can't begin to count the number of times this has happened and how many people I have guided towards the premium cigar scene. We all have to start somewhere and if properly handled, we can turn someone on to this great past time.
Valid point, generally, but I believe the cigar in question was a Black and Mild or Swisher Sweet type... I've smoked crap cigars, too, but "no thanks" to those.I guess I stand alone here...when offered a cigar from someone else, I usually accept no matter what it is. I never ever bring my own beer to a party unless asked. As long as the beer is cold and free its good beer. If it is as SkyKing said "swill" I make a cup last a loooong time. I go to parties to enjoy the company of friends and not get blitzed.
I will bring a bottle of alcohol I like to a party and gift it to the host. If he or she decides to open it and put it out it is up to them.
As far as cigars go, I always bring a few to every party I go to. And I'll smoke a cigar I'm not too fond of if its offered, BoTL means something to me.
