Word to the wise about peppers

I can't even fathom any of that... Been watching you-tube vids of people eating those things. MOMMA!

That post above reminds me of a question that was relevant during the Viet Nam era, especially in the Hospital Corps. "If you had to lose the use of one, which would it be, your crank or your eyes? I always figured Ray Charles was someone worth emulating.

Yikes, I can go as far as jalapeno, Serrano level on most foods and love the flavor of habanero but not the full-on heat. My worst mistake was when I had some smoked, dried habaneros that I was pulverizing in a coffee grinder I use for spices. There was some dust left in the bottom of the grinder, and not wanting to leave it in there and get a surprise when I ground up some cinnamon or something, without thinking I blew down into the grinder to clear it out. The next ten hours were about what you'd expect as far as the blindness and burning.

Yeah, that would suck real bad. I have made the mistake of rubbing my eyes twice and its a dickstep I hope to never forget.

Anyone else enjoy Hatch Chiles from this time of year? I have 20# roasted, peeled and in the freezer. Love those things.

Think I saw her on Stan Lee's Super Human show.

I always wear examination gloves when preparing hot peppers. They're cheap and available at your local big box drug store in the first aid department. The hot stuff doesn't wash off ones hands readily.

I've eaten whole Carolina Reapers once before. I bring a pepper relishe for Boy Scout camping trips. Ghost, Scorpion, & reaper. Different ones made of those peppers. While hot they taste great on everything. The boys love putting some on and seeing who can handle it. Well I had a jar of whole reapers and I wanted to try it before the boys. Needless to say I didn't let boys try them. A good 20 minutes of ouch.

You all are on a whole new level of crazy. I like hot but not like that!
