been using a generic three flame torch that i bought from my local liquor store (around $10). problem is the fluid on the torch lastsan extremely short time, i sometimes cannot get one cigar lit before it runs out of fluid. i'm guessing that it might be a faulty lighter. are there any recommendations for a torch lighter that will actually last more than 30 seconds at a time? also, has anyone heard or used the zippo insert that turn it into a torch:

does it last? any tips on a good lighter would be appreciated, plus i'm not afraid of spending more than the $10 i paid for my previous lighter, just want morelife out of the next lighter i purchase.

thanks

If you can find one, the i11 Corona Old Boy, while not a torch lighter is beautiful, practical and amazing. You won't go wrong.

If you're looking for a torch lighter, I'd get a Dupont Extend or at least a Lotus of some sort.

The Blazer insert for Zippos is a fantastic lighter. The only reason I no longer use one is because it doesn't hold enough fuel.

the colibri's look really nice. i'm guessing the fuel lasts a bit longer than my cheap $10 torch?

Love the Zippo Blazer Insert. Have never had lighting problems with the insert as I have with other torch lighters. Could use a bigger fuel tank, but I guess it has to fit the Zippo case, which you can pick and choose for a nice personalized lighter.

Another thumbs up for the Zippo insert. Although the fuel reservoir is a little small, I can still manage to light 6-8 cigars before it reqires a fill.

Go out and buy a Xikar torch...they work very perfect and like the cutters, have a lifetime replacement guarantee.

Fuel last's really well in mine. Again, I dont have anything to compare it to, but I think you would be happy with it as I am.

I just got my 1st real Dupont lighter, the red Opus one. By for the best lighter I have ever had. I really like the wide flame that it has. But I still am not sure it was worth the cash I had to put out for it though. I will never take it out of the house. When I go out I like to use the Dupont style NIBO lighters, they work great and only cost about $15. The fake Duponts work good too and are very nice but don't hold very much fuel. I also use my Zippos with the torch insert when I know that I will be smoking outside where wind might be a problem.

The Zippo insert is pretty cool and works well. It doesn't hold a lot of gas, but it will easily last through a smoking session, even if you lend it out some.

My Zippo is my travel lighter. Around the house, I use matches...the free ones I get from Cigarbid!

Out in the shop, I use this:

I have an old, vintage at this point I guess, Dupont that is my favorite lighter. It's soft flame, and very reliable. The fuel lasts a good, long time: I smoke 3 - 4 cigars a day, and I can go a month between refills. The refills are a bit pricy (I usually get them at $4 a piece), and it's not wind resistant at all, but it's got a great feel to it, always works, and looks nice.

The no longer sell exactly the one I have, but you can see the closest thing to it on this page at the top left, model 14110.

i took back my Colibri a while ago, and finally found a Blazer from Viper, and after using it for a month, love it. (Blazer Gemini)

As a shop owner I've dealt with many lighters. I have found through experience Vector makes a damn good cigar lighter. They come with a 5 year warranty and their top of the line peaks at only $50. Their warranty is really easy to use, simply send them $6 and the lighter and you'll have a new one in a week or two.

The Zippo inserts are good too. They are about equal to your avg $10 ABC liquor store lighter. You're doing good if it lasts 6 months.

I'm also a newbie and have been looking for a nice lighter. Someone was posting a Colibri Tri Cutta for $46 shipped. Sounds like the concensus is to pass on Colibri.... :whistling:

DuPonts look pretty pricy. I guess the Blazer looks nice..
