Smoked a Chateau Fuente last night and think it's perhaps the best valued stick for the money. Anyone else a fan? I received this stick in a newbie trade and I suspect it had some age on it but for $3.50 MSRP I'll be smoking more of these. How are they right out of the box?

I got a box in December 05 and smoked one last month and one last week. Both have been super terrible. The one I smoked last week I had to toss half way through (the first time I've ever done this with a Fuente product). My guess is they need atleast 12 months of rest. The burn was terrible and the flavours were on and off. I won't touch another one for atleast anther 6-8 months. I'm hoping the next 18 in the box will be just as I remembered from the previous ones I've smoked. When these are on they kick ass!

I smoke the Chateau Fuente SG right off the shelf in my B&M, I love this cigar. Only problem I have had is that the wrapper usually splits when I get about 3/4 of the way down. I bought two of them to let them sit in my humi to see if there is a difference.

The sun grown is the best cigar for it's value...IMO. They are very popular among the Fuente whores on this board!

I'm not sure, for the same price you can get the P2000 maddie... try these with 2-3 years of age, I think they might be slightly better.

Definitely a big fan of these, especially the SG. I haven't experienced any mold that some seem to have had. They usually taste great, right off the shelf.

I'm not a big fan of the regular Padron line, so these are a better value for my tastes.

The SG Chateau is good right off the shelf...Same for the SG Double Chateau.

Big fan of the sungrowns here! I've got two in my tupperdor that I've been aging for about 2-3 years. I'll bet they're most excellent by now! Never seen the mold under the cedar.

I have smoked a Chateau Fuente every day for the past three months and have had no issues whatsoever. For $70. for a box of twenty, there's not much that can stand up to them.

But that comes down to preference I guess...they are two different cigars. The 2000 maddie is smooth and cocoa filled...the Fuente SG is spicy and full flavored! Even with age they are worlds apart. It depends on the mood!

True, I guess I am more the smooth and cocoa filled type :D :D :D

I smoked the Chateau Fuente and Cubna Beli SG's. Both are great cigars for the money and taste. I have some boxes that are just sitting in my vault, and will probably get better with age. IMHO, cigars are subjective as well as taste. Some smokers may prefer Maduros versus Sungrowns.
