El Martillo (My Boxing Name)
So, if I needed that extra nudge to go ahead and spring for the new Rolls Phantom Coupe, it arrived today.
Got up for my daily early morning PT, had a WOAM over a cortadito and tostada, then left the confines of South Beach to drive into Coral Gables for a meeting I had set up. Get into the Gables, having navigated the morning rush just fine thus far, and proceed through an intersection with a green light (in my favor), when this fella in a 1994 GMC 3500 made his introduction to the entire front end of my ride, as he was coming the opposite direction, then proceeded to turn left directly into me, with LEO estimates placing him at roughly 45 mph as he made his turn (he stated he "slowed" to turn).
Brothers, it is fair to say the results of this combination of forces was not pretty, nor offering much in the way of resuscitation of the vehicle. The Bentley has been towed to the body shop of choice for such vehicles, and is now awaiting estimates for repair. Myself? I'm a bit sore, have a slight headache, but nothing I'd even begin to complain about. I have both a masseuse and chiropractor coming over later this evening, with both their talents going to good use. Have already passed by and consulted with an ortho-surgeon friend of mine, and I came out just fine. The s.o.b. in the GMC did as well, though it remains in question how it will play out as his registration and license were long expired. He presented an insurance card, and it remains to be seen whether his policy is still actually valid.
So now it's off to put in my order for the new Rolls Phantom Coupe.
Heart-crushing to see the Bentley go under such circumstances, but such is life I suppose.
R.I.P.
