Wow,,,,I thought for a minute I was in a mens cigar forum but as I keep reading I see a soap opera instead. Gentlemen, this is a cigar forum where people have opinions and opinions are answered with more opinions. If you don't like someone's opinion,,,read it and move on to the next biggest hurdle in your life without whining like a bunch of old women who have nothing better to do than beat a dead horse. It's a cigar forum for Gods sake,,,if you get your feelings hurt over something on here then you need to stop purchasing cigars and save your money for some therapy on how to handle your feelings when on a cigar board forum. I can hardly believe I have to write this on here to grown men,,,grow the fk up!!

Interesting, why say anything at all? I don't see how this can be construed as "constructive". ???

Ok, I will take the bait. As you say, "Interesting, why say anything at all?" Probably for the same reason you felt the tug to put your opinion after my quote and then add the additional thought about how you dont see this as constructive,,,,,read below and hopefully this might make sense to you but I'm putting a bet into Vegas to bet the ranch that you don't get it.

Because some people need to wake up and smell the coffee and act like men. My opinion was not meant to take one side nor the other,,,there is no side to take because people will always take something that is said and attach their own interpretation,,much like you did because your thought was that my statement wasn't constructive. I wasn't referring to anything you said nor was it meant to steer your thoughts to anything except what I said. There are grown men on here acting like 90 year old women who are beating a dead horse,,period,,,end of statement. My opinion and that is all that it is,,,but I am quick to learn that grown men who would rather rattle their intelectual sabres and "not accept" another members apology because it just wasn't what you wanted them to say is adolescent at best. I'm a newbie myself but that doesn't mean I don't know shit about cigars,,,I have 40 years of experience but I'm not here to impress anyone,,,just to share and listen to others experiences. If I want to read or listen to grown men bitch and moan about their feelings then I can watch a ton of soap operas on TV. Let's return to what this forum is all about.
and...this is construed as constructive ???

Brasilia,

I just got out of B-School, so perhaps I'm still thinking this way. But the last course I took was with a retired CEO. One of his hobby-horses is consideration. The ability to gain social capital in order to get someone to agree with you. It can be as simple as getting them to buy your widgets; it can be as complicated as getting them to ink a billion-dollar M&A deal. But the concept's simple. The point is that to earn consideration with someone, you have to pay into their account first, in some way that's meaningful to them.

You're an old guy, you have plenty of online and offline experience, that's great. It should make it easy to share your knowledge. It should make it easy to earn that consideration. But unlike the offline world, you can't trade in on your friends and business acquaintances to get it from the get go. You need to earn it slowly and by your own actions, because no one here knows you from Adam.

Do a few trades. Post a few reviews. Join in with well-considered comments. Speak in good fellowship. Posts which are worth nothing gain you nothing. Only actions which are of value gain you consideration. And then, when you've gained consideration - then you'll be likely to get what you want from the community.

Mate, just quickly: You cannot tout your intellectual maturity whilst simultaneously using commas as full stops... It just makes you look like an idiot.

This is, by the way, a self moderated forum. The system works, if marred by a little excess from time to time. Do stop trying to change the way things are run here mate, because you won't get far. Most of us who stick around do so because we are comfortable with how things are done. You can see how we would react harshly to new members thinking they know better.

To sum up: Less with the moral superiority, and more attention to good grammar please.

Geezus guys!!!!! This thread needs a NSFW TAG! I can't read this while at work!!!! ???

Me baiting? ??? Constructive is having something pertinent to add to the subject at hand which your post did not. What did your post have to do with any of the issues being discussed in this thread? I will agree with you there can tend to be a bit of drama when it comes to keyboard warriors but, again I ask, what does it have to do with this thread? If anything, your post could be considered "baiting" due to it's broad strokes of generality and total lack of focus. You are correct in that you were not supporting either view but decided interject something totally off target for this thread. If you want to berate the members of CP as a "bunch of old women who whine" then start a new thread. As others have stated, this is a self moderated forum and, like it or not, this system has worked and will continue to work with or without you or me.

And, I see you've joined my fan club. Based on when I made it, the dickweed comment stands. There are no moderators here to "protect us", so yes, we can be ruthless.

There are 3 parts to an apology, and "but" isn't one of them.

1. I'm sorry
2. Admit your mistake, taking responsibility for your part of the problem
3. Ask how you can make this right

That is contrition.

Pretty simple formula...but Bruce is absolutely correct. When you've obviously riled the sensibilities of the experienced members of this Board it would be good to keep this advice in mind.

I heard that Dunkin Donuts was supplying Wi-Fi for their laptops because of all the money they're making off of them! :sign:
