At Padron, seedlings are planted on elevated seed beds, as opposed to planting them in plastic trays in a greenhouse. One method isn't necessarily better than the other, but this is how Don Orlando has always done it.

To illustrate the difference between cured tobacco and tobacco that isn't yet properly cured, Jorge wrapped a leaf of each on the cigar I was smoking. I smoked them both and immediately noticed the differences.

Once rolled, Padron cigars are weighed in bundles of 50. If the weight is only slightly off, the cigars are inspected one by one, as are ALL the cigars rolled and bunched by that pair.
