I've been slipping. Probably the snow rotting my brain.
Hava Cigar raced on 2/11. Didn't fare well, finishing a well-beaten 6th. Acigarisjustacigar also raced on 2/11, finished 4th. Both horses were out of the money, putting the list back in the red. Sitting on -17.67% so far.
Arty's Cigar...
Hava Cigar is entered on Wednesday, February 11 at Turf Paradise. $8,000 claimer going 6.5 furlongs.
Acigarisjustacigar is entered on Wednesday, February 11 at Aqueduct. $16,000 claimer going 6 on the inner track.
Best of luck to both of these horses.
BOOM!
Saturday at the Fair Grounds Cigarzin changed our recent fortune, who was much the best in route to a win. He paid $17.80, $7.60, and $6.60, totaling a $32 win on a $6 wager. That bumped the ROI, although only momentarily, to 37.22 percent.
That was followed by some not-so-good...
Well, yesterday wasn't great for Arty's Cigar, who finished last in a field of 7. The comments simply said "Inside, no factor".
That puts us at a -42% ROI, but that is only a few races into it. I'll keep tracking this.
Nobody is scheduled to race at this point.
Looks like you will get your wish. Arty's Cigar is entered on 1-25 in Race 4 at Tampa Bay Downs. $12,500 claimer going 6 furlongs. No morning line yet. Wish him luck!
I'm another that has a problem with the CC selection. I love doing these things for high-end domestic sticks, but my access to CC's is virtually nil. With my job I simply cannot take the risk.
Try it again for upper-end domestics or CC's and I'm in for a few squares.
I went ahead and added Lighter Fluid today, who raced a few days ago. Came in 3rd, paying $6.60 to show, which is a small profit.
That brings the cumulative ROI to -27.5% right now.
Better weather will bring more horses into the mix...
With the cold weather over the past week there were plenty of cancellations, meaning that no cigar-related horses have ran. There have been a few workouts, but nothing as far as results.
Once the spring gets here this will pick up.
Acigarisjustacigar didn't fare too well today at Aqueduct. He had a pretty rough trip to finish 5th.
That made for a $6 loss today, and unfortunately puts us at a cumulative ROI of -40%. It is still pretty early, though, with only 3 races tracked, but it is a $7.20 loss so far.
But, we do...
