I "discovered" cigars while in Bermuda in business. The executive conference room had a huge humidor (kept, I now know, woefully dry) stocked with about 300 cubans. Me and a colleague decided to "have a go" and I picked up a Bolivar Belicoso Fino. I was hooked... I loved the cigar, the experience and the feeling. I proceeded to promptly "secure" several cigars, some Bolivares, Partagas, Montecristos, Punch... stuffed them in empty water bottles and brought them home.

I took some to a friends home, where we shoot pool on weekends from time to time, and we lit up. That's how I got my one smoking buddy. I travel to Bermuda three or four times a year, and the executive humidor kept me supplied for a while, and when that venue closed up to me, I started buying cubans on a cigar shop down the street from the office (at outrageous prices, I might add... nothing's cheap in the Island.)

On the second trip I decided that ziplocs were definitely not the proper way to keep them, and I bought an inexpensive humidor. I just bought my second one, just because the coolidoor has a very low WTF* (but I see them in my future, I do!)

My friend and I have been buying other cigars, and I even bought a sampler to see what else is out there. We regularly get together to smoke cigars... sometimes while shooting pool while listening to the blues, sometimes for no other reason than to have a cigar. We both look for new cigars to try and buy them in pairs, and compare notes on the enjoyment of the smoke du jour.

I am a total noob. I know what I like... when I smoke it <img src='http://www.cigarpass.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> I'm trying to learn more, and regularly troll the boards seeking knowledge from veteran BOTL.

After lurking this site for several weeks, I gave in and decided that a Cigar Pass is something I want to experience, so here I am.
I'm an engineer by trade, work as an IT manager for a large insurance company. I'm in my late 40s. I'm married and just drove my only kid to college just a couple of weeks ago (so you know I'm very poor money-wise right now <img src='http://www.cigarpass.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />)

I'm looking forward to making new friends and soaking up knowledge from the old timers and those who just simply know more.
PS: *WTF is not what you think, it stands for Wife Tolerance Factor - I'm a man of many hobbies, and while she's a patient and accommodating person I have to consider her feelings when engaging in new ones.

PPS: I hope this is not too long winded. If so, let me know and I will edit to shorten it.

Guitars
IT Security
Gardening (not flowers, tomatoes!)
Pool
Cigars
Carpentry
Metalwork

That said, I seldom play anymore, I manage to get some veggies, but nothing special (tho I have to tell you, you don't know what good is until you make a fresh tomato salad with fresh basil), I suck at pool, can't nail two pieces of wood together, and my welding sucks. I make a living at IT.

Life is good :)

Got my newie sampler from Heatmiser (thank you Jeff!)
