My Father Don Pepin Garcia Blue Label 20th Anniversary Limited Edition Toro (6.5×52)
Construction & Burn:This cigar started off strong in terms of construction. The burn line was clean and even through the first half, but past that point, I began experiencing issues. One side consistently went out and needed several relights, which definitely detracted from the overall experience.
Flavor Profile:
The dominant flavor from start to finish was unmistakably chocolate cherry cordials rich, sweet, and decadent. Hints of wood and subtle spice showed up here and there, but they played a distant background role. For a handmade cigar, it was by far the sweetest I’ve ever smoked.
First Half:
The first half was genuinely enjoyable and unique. The chocolate-cherry profile was surprising and almost dessert-like, and the lack of initial pepper a signature of many My Father blends was unexpected, but not unpleasant at first.
Second Half:
Unfortunately, the sweetness became overwhelming by the halfway mark. Without much in the way of transition or complexity to balance things out, the profile started to feel one note. Combined with the repeated relights and burn issues, the second half felt like a letdown.
Overall Impressions:
This was a surprising cigar in both good and not-so-good ways. I appreciated the unique sweetness and how it broke from the typical My Father profile, but it didn’t quite live up to expectations in terms of balance, evolution, or burn consistency. For a 20th Anniversary release, I was hoping for more of that classic Pepin spice and complexity.
Final Verdict:

Would I smoke it again? Maybe as a one off dessert cigar, but not something I’d regularly reach for, especially at the premium price point.
